8:30 for the foolhardy and the hardy, maybe the lardy, but definitely not for the tardy.

It was a proper miserable Cape Town morning. But Dean, Anton, Johan, Rob and I had the nicest ride. Because it was raining we stuck mostly to the more open tracks for a very relaxed and fun ride.
Thanks guys!

My boots are hardly dry yet and the outlook for Sunday is poor. I think I'll ride Saturday afternoon. 2pm start from Cipla/Ace.

It was a beautiful warm sunny afternoon. Thanks to Angus, DavidM, Dean and good-to-see-him-again Francois for a really nice little ride. David's injuries seem to be largely behind him, and Angus soldiered bravely with a broken rib. Early arrival Dean had to cope with some local flavour. In fact he rushed home to wash his bike in time to join us again just before 2! :imaposer:

Quite a short ride of just over 20km but still most enjoyable. Thanks guys!

It was a big group of 14 today, Ruan, Jaco and Fuzzy joined us on ATs ahead of the Quest mission, and with Shaun on a XR650L and Andrew on his 660R made up the heavyweight division. The rest of us, Kim, Zanie, Lance, Dean, Gerard, Angus, Graham and David and I thought we were in for a morning picking up heavy bikes. Far from it. They all coped amazingly well on some of the most difficult sand tracks the Cape has to offer. Met up with William and Dan at the Meeting Place. Good to see them again. Down at the Playground the ATs tested their limits with Jaco showing us their aerodynamic prowess.

Unfortunately Kim got separated from us on the home stretch and fell, hurting her leg and chest. To my shame I didn't double-check the numbers before splitting off in our various directions. Andrew was the first to respond to her calls for help, and Raphael came too. Rider and bike are recovered and Kim's injuries are limited to ligaments in her knee and a broken rib or two. We absolutely wish her all the best for the speediest recovery, and apologise for our inattentiveness.

Track attached (You'll notice there are a lot of straight bits to accommodate the big bikes: Later I realised they were just as capable as us.):

A massive THANK YOU JOHN.. The 4 Quest semi finalists needed to quell the uprising of nerves before the Bootcamp tomorrow . You took us on a challenging track that definitely tested my limits on that Africa Twin, that being said it was the definition of a good time.

Ill be back in Parklands on the big bike more often..  :thumleft:

Eight of us set out on a gloomy morning for an excellent ride. Raymond, Zanie, Lance, Anton, Dean, Fuzzy on his AT and first-timer with us, Brendan, who also joined us from Quest Boot-Camp on a Husky 650. Fuzzy and Brendan impressed us with their riding skills while the rest of us enjoyed our smaller bikes.

So nice to meet up with Kim, Squirrel and Rafael at the Barrel, and to see Kim on her feet, smiling and all forgiveness for leaving her injured and alone last week.

Thanks everyone.

And we log up yet another beautiful ride. Weather was perfect, the sand was moist and firm, and the company was top-notch. Willie, Willem, Raymond, Dean and Anton joined me on a shorter-than-usual ride. More technical stuff and long stops. Dean tried flying early in the ride but soon learnt the benefits of rubber on the road.  At one of the stops I had to pull my pants down to extract a long thorn from my flesh. I hope the other riders survived with sensibilities intact. Met up with Andrew and Lucas at the Meeting Place and joined them for a most convivial debrief. Thanks chaps!

Sorry John, no GPX file for you from this ride, well, not from me.

The line up was:
 - Angus
 - Dean
 - Willie
 - Willem
 - Caron
 - Reymond
 - Lucas
 - Craig
 - David

The 10 us us left at 08:30 sharp-ish. Great route out to the crater. Willie with a flat front wheel the whole way.

Craig was on top form, log hopping, wheeling, going through tight sections with his right hand off the bike. Kept me entertained.

Since having an amazing ride through a "hilly place" near Hermanus yesterday, wasn't feeling up to the heat, decided to branch off from the crater.

Lucas, Caron, Reymond and David decided to join my shortest route out... One major detour later, we were back at the car. Lucas mentioned something about a snake and having to avoid it, but I wasn't really listening.

Debrief brought Kim, who is nursing a few ribs and knee, and Raff.

The ride was just not the same without @Crossed-up

Ja, I've been officiously officating at some ride out of Ladismith. Not a patch on the regular Parklands epics. Ask Lance and Gerhard who did this one - the Makadas Rally. A walk in the park. Only about 20 hours in the saddle, drowning bikes, crashing, coping with life-threatening exhaustion etc etc etc. Pfft! Walk in the park.  :imaposer:

Seriously though, our intrepid friends triumphed in a ride that challenged the best. Well done! I'm hellofa proud of you.

Great ride this morning. 13 of us, Herman, Anton, Peter, Caron, DavidM, Dean, Raymond, Willie, Willem and Graham, were joined by Mark on a new CRF300L and Os on a XT660R. Os clipped a tree stump, bent the shift lever and ripped off his footpeg. Luckily it missed his foot! A mix of tracks made an interesting day. Thanks everyone.

Debrief was livened up by Zanie, Kim, Lance and Andrew joining us. Thanks guys!
