Just watch out for the costs involved if you want to offer CC payments. R400.00pm for Merchant facilities and R165pm for Verification services.

thats my biggest concern - how does one manage this in an online world?  Gateway?  if so do I still pay merchant fees?

I buy stuff online on a regular basis, and 9 times out of ten I pay through my credit card or with paypal. Any other options like"pay with eft first" ect is more of a pain in the ass than anything else. For the shop to work well, being able to pay there and then online for your goodies is a sure way to succeed.  I know I will buy stuff from the WD shop if its easy and convenient.

Paypal or CCard - EFT only if you are prepared to have all 4 major banks bank accounts so that you don't have to wait the extra time for the ACB to clear the payment.  (IE Standard Bank acc holder pays to your Standard Bank account etc etc)
My wife says I'm not allowed to say that she said I'm not allowed to write anything in here any more...

@ KILRoy,

I got a merchant account from FNB and they basically insisted that I have to use VCS (virtual card services) before they will give ypu card facilities.

EFT or CC is fine  :thumleft:

I setup a WD Shop as a beneficiary, most of us will be buying more than once from the Shop anyways and future payments are a breeze, I don't mind the shipping delay if you need to wait for clearance.

My Two cents:

I use my CC most for online purchases, only because it's the most convenient method for me. There is the risk of fraudulent use, but if I'm not mistaken, VCS (https://www.vcs.co.za/) offers you the option to only accept 3D secure enrolled card payments, which really reduces the risk of fraudulent transactions as the user must know that code.

Also EFT through SID (https://www.vcs.co.za/), this is an instant and secure payment gateway for SA, that uses ones own banking portal.  Plus side for merchants is it's secure as the user has to log into their own online bank and also no need for you to have an account with every bank.  Problem for users is that it's not offered by ALL banks, but only the big 4 - Nedbank, FNB, STD and ABSA.  I have used this payment method before and provided the user follows the instructions, it's dead simple and convenient and quicker than a trf if the user doesn't bank with your bank.

Paypal, is very popular, I don't use it much myself and because of this, I always forget my details, so look for the CC option instead :)
Wherever you find yourself, make that your home.

Voted, C Card, or Paypal, either is the ONLY option imho.. EFT's will take delays which will frustrate YOU and the BUYER.

Good suggestion   :thumleft:

Mobile wallets are the future

But in the meantime - also CCard, EFT and cash.
