BMW 650 GT Scooter
« on: October 26, 2012, 11:40:38 am »
I know the abuse I will get with this post but so be it, I pick up my new scoot today. They are silly money but they are just so cool. I feel like a 8 year old kid on Christmas eve I cannot wait . I always wanted to own a Vespa as they are really cool , when I finally could at the age of 45 afford one they just did not do it for me. The new models are to smooth and seem to lack the character of the older ones. I am sure there is a 60's or 70's model for me sometime in the future.

For now it is the BM scoot. I have not even got it yet and my wife says it is her bike. I can see big fights over who is going to ride this bike. The two GS'S and the KTM are going to be collecting dust for awhile.

Once I have got used to the scoot I will post my opinion of the pro's and con's of the bike.
I am not here for a long time , I am here for a good time !

I think a scooter is the way to go for commuting in a city. Had one when I lived in CT. Economical and much easier to handle through the traffic

Unfortunately as is the BMW way, that thing is completely overpriced. Not too mention what out of warranty repair costs will be.

Scooters are growing on me but I think BM screwed the pooch on the pricing.

This is pretty much the standard price for a quality maxi scoot thats bigger than 500cc. Even the Yamaha T-Max 530 sells for R100k.  :BangHead:

Pricing doesn't seem TOO crazy considering you're actually getting quite a lot of bike. Only optional extras are daytime running lights and an alarm.

In my books the problem is you can get an F800GS for similar money...

Seriously? So automatic cars are also pointless? These scoots are awesome for commuting, and best of all is the fact that you can now tour with them as well!

If I had to spend that kind of money on a scooter, the BMW would be it.

Saw one yesterday at Donford, but deliberately did not test drive it for fear of falling for it.

Enjoy your new wheels!
