Sooo..not that it really matters, but there are a few dawgs who usually come support etc. so I'll update this for them.

I got myself an MX bike at the beginning of the year, it's always been a dream to race MX but due to many things it was never possible.

The bike when I got it: 2007 KTM 250 SXF

I started riding the local MX track at Zone7, it was a steep learning curve, I've raced enduro/offroad before and have a good sum of experience when it comes to adv bikes, but this was a completely different game, 90 degree corners immediately into steep double jumps etc. lot of the time you just had the man up and hit the things to see it's actually not that bad. So I played around a bit there, but it wasn't really anything serious.

About 3 months ago when I had worked up enough monies I decided to put together a proper racing effort, got myself an MX coach, current SA MX2 Champion, and spent lots getting the bike sorted, it started looking like this.

Then this:

Then came probably the best thing that I could've ever done to the bike, full Pro Circuit Factory suspension, front and rear with clamps etc.

The suspension is worth double the price of the bike, but I was extremely lucky to score a very good deal, so it worked out well.
The difference that it has made is phenomenal though, there is so much more feedback from the front etc.

I did around 3 couching session and my times started improving, I was at the track practicing every weekend, as well as hitting the gym 3 times a week for spinning, rowing and kickboxing.

My first race was about 2 months ago, to say I was nervous would be an understatement, around 30 guys lined up with me on the gates

The gates dropped and I pinned it for all I was worth, I raced my heart out and have never experienced that type of exhaustion, and managed to come away with a win at my first try, I was pretty happy but there was one race left, I managed a 2nd in it.

There's been two more races since in which I managed top 5's etc. it's been going pretty well, it's just silly expensive so if there is someone out there wanting to hook up an up and coming rider, please have a chat with me.
I've managed to get a support deal from Eddy2Race here in CPT, which has been unbelievable wrt bike maintenance etc. go check them out at www.eddy2race.co.za

I have one more race left this year, Oct 24, hopefully my bike will be ready to go, this happened in the week during practice:

then around 3 months off in which I can train a lot more, bike and fitness wise, and then come out swinging in the '13 season and hopefully get a championship regionally, that's the goal for now.

I'll update this as stuff happens, keep an eye on nr 517!
