Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) to Liwa, Moreb and Madinat Zayed.
So last week I did the Jebel Hafeet trip. This weekend I decided to go and have a look at Moreb, these are apparently some of the largest dunes in the world.
I left Abu Dhabi on a route of 580 km round trip.
Left Abu Dhabi at 08h00.
Imagine this in SA, a special road just for trucks.
Speed Cameras every couple of Km’s
This is the Car Museum. Also a story for another day. In short amazing private collection of H.H. Sheikh Hamad Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan (also known as The Rainbow Sheikh) has a love for cars and has never sold a single car he has bought. So in the interest of all he has built this car museum in the shape of a pyramid so everyone can come and have a look. Here is the web link for those interested https://www.enam.ae/2011/

This puppy gets moved at night when the roads are quiet.
Some Desert Farms
I mentioned the speed cameras. A point to note, if the speed limit is 100 they start trapping from 120. In a 120 zone you can do 140, this used to be 160, but some locals ripped the arse out of that law. 140 is still a nice speed though. Amazing doing 160 on a bike and being passed as if you are parked.

This Prado passed me and I couldn’t keep up with him. Chased him to 200 and then gave up.

Arriving at Moreb Desert Camp, you can come camp here for the weekend and play in the dunes to your heart’s content.

The Road Back
You know that moment when you shit yourself, have an adrenalin rush and a life before the eyes moment. I had one of these all at once on one of these sand sections. It appeared out of nowhere going around a sharp corner. The front broke loose followed by the back. I ended up doing one of those amazing 2 wheel slides, unintentionally. Amazing how a lifetime of off-road riding saves your bacon when you least expect it.

Check the price
These guys are lined up for oil changes. It takes about 15 minutes to do an oil change and filter swap. They suck the oil out through the dipstick and costs about R450 including the new filter.
