Problem is the gearing, unless the new KTM is totally geared for on-road use, the close ratio box need too many shifts, and thus time lost. It also has to be able to rev as high as the superbikes to make power where it matters on the street.
Beware of starting to sound like GS1200 riders.
Of course, in certain situations of revs and roll-ons, a superbike will be surprised by this 150bhp monster. It still is a lot of power.

They are already trying to compare with a superbike , the 1190 will possibly still only just do over 200KMPH. Then the superbike only comes alive.

We me wants a 'R' with TKC's on - but I guess it'll rip em knobby's right off on the first slide eeek - considering ordering but man how does one use 148HP on the dirt anyway? I rarely use my existing ±110HP on the 990 Adv....except for this ride....

No question 150hp is excessive, and certainly smacks of the Hyabusa selling point; but that's merely a max power output, which means little to f-all for off-roading.

What it means to me is the same power & torque as the less powerful bikes, just at lower revs 

What you actually feel is low down revs torque. If you want to do 200km per hour, get a road superbike.

The current R? I believe the 2009 R is much higher. I believe you mean the new 1190 R. I think the are the same ....

That's exactly what KTM means by 'Street'.  So Street also = 990 Adventure R
