Reverse a tyre to counteract cupping?

TKC80 front in my case, but I figure this thread can serve as a general reference.

I got this front tyre second hand just to see me through for a dirt weekend. I have no idea what mileage it has on it, but it has obvious cupping.

I'm not sure which way cupping is supposed to happen, but if this tyre was mounted correctly according to the arrow, then the worn edge would have been meeting the ground last (picture is the top of the tyre moving left to right).

So, which way should I mount it? Should the worn edge meet the ground first or last?

There's a thread on ADV about this, but it descended into a flame war about coefficients of wear blah blah...
