So we decided to meet in Piketberg at 7 Am for our quick little run through the 'berg. I knew it was going to be a long day, with JJ on his XR125. He was so amped for this ride, he bunked school.  :mwink: I planned a route as far away from the highways as posible, because the little XR125 could only do about 100kph on the open road. JJ reckoned 130kph full taps town the mine shaft.

The Boere on this side of the world must be doing very well. E63AMG's and old ladys throwing us with stones with their new Prado's was really becoming a normal thing. Who new that you would want to drive you million rand benz on a gravel road.

We decided to press on to Algeria, but we were still about 20km south of the N7. Its lovely to ride roads that you haven’t ridden, even though they are so close to home.

We eventually trekked on to Clanwilliam via the road running next to the dam and to be honest, this is a lovely road to riding on in the early am! We arrived in Clanwilliam and decided to get something to eat. I completely forgot to eat before I left home and was already roasting the sheep with my superman eyes alongside the road.

According to H3ndrik, Clanwilliam is a 10 o clock town, everthing stays closed till then. We did eventually get some grub at a "tea garden" and it filled the hole... barely.

Over the pass we got a lot of wind, H3ndrik and I rode out front and waited at the Grave.

I could see that Ben (transalp) and JJ (xr125) were taking strain on the ride. It was hot and it was also Ben and JJ's first real gravel trip. We still had a while to travel to Oasis so we pressed on. H3ndrik and I, pushed on and waited for JJ and Ben at Oasis with beer in hand.

Looking up at the sky at this really does not make you want to leave in a hurry.

After a few beers it was time to head off. I was lazy, there was no denying that. It was 4pm and we had to still ride 180km to get home.
Ceres could not come soon enough. H3ndrik departed before Ben and JJ arrived, because he still had to travel to town. When JJ and Ben arrived, we sat for a few, they filled up and off in to the sunset we went.
