♫ Slip Sliding Away ♫
« on: December 16, 2012, 08:09:59 pm »
Destination : Stonehenge, Tankwa Karoo (R355)
Riders : Rommel, Sparky, Operator, Bubby

It is not often that the Karoo gets a thunderstorm or even a hint of a spitting cloud but yesterday coming over Katbakkies Pass we rode into small pieces of hail and this awsome sight.

Pictures taken at the Padstal.

This friendly outpost is normally as dry as a peach pip, excuse the pun.

We took a vote and fired up some dutch courage with ice, and ventured further down the road to Stonehenge. This is after all what adventure bikes are for. (that comment is for Pote)

10km down the road....Rommel coming through on his Africa Twin.

Another 10 km further this was the scene. About 200m of water.

Later we heard a rider (Nico ?) broke his ankle here trying to cross this section, enroute to Die Mond.

Rommel picked up a slow leak that later burst the Mitas completely.

That was a lot of rain!  Lekker muddy fun!

I've fallen very hard on the R355 in the mud.  I know how tricky it gets.  Well done.

After leaving Cape Town in 35degrees we never dreamt of how much rain the Tankwa actually got.

While at Padstal we were contemplating turing around, but after a few beers, my question to the guys was: "How bad can it be?" ;D

Well......

Bubby in action

Rommel getting stuck

Finally at Stonehenge!
