" HOW BAD CAN IT BE " = " turn around and go in the opposite direction". Thanx to all the guys - Sparky, Bubby and Opperator for your adventurous spirit without which I would not have had this awesome ride. First time riding in propper mud, and  the A/T showed it's true capabilities. At 360 KG all up, she got through with only once getting bogged down and only one tumble ( if you can call it that ). Bubby should join a stunt team with his spectacular cartwheel which was actually quite hillarious.
As for the tyre blowout, the only one at fault here is me. When we did the repair in Ceres, we noticed that the inside of the tyre was delaminating on the sidewall. This, in my opinion, was caused because I rode the tyre, after it was allmost compleately deflated, for about  3 Km's to get to a comfortable place to effect the repair. We inserted a gator where the tyre was cut ( about 10 mm very thin cut ) but I decided not to put a gator over the delaminated area. My bad. Regardless of the tyre brand, it's not clever to continue riding with a broken tyre. Had a total failure just as we were through Mitchels Pass. Kak feeling getting an instant deflation. I believe that the progressive springs I had inserted not so long ago almost certainly prevented the bike from kettling. Just tapped off slowly and let the front end do it's thing. Thanks to Bubby for waiting at the roadside with me until Gusman showed up with a team of workers - his sons in law -  and the Viper Lounge trailer. Took us 3 hours to get from Tulbach to Durbanville - bloody bushpub.
So, when are we doing this again ? New tyre going on this morning - yes, I am sticking with the Mitas E 07, and hopefully Topbox has a new screen for me, or if anyone knows where I can get an extended screen for the A/T ( RD 07 ) please let me know.
Again , to my fellow Mudcateers, big up for great weekend.
There's a feeling I get, when I look to the west, and my spirit is longing for leaving.

Rommel picked up a slow leak that later burst the Mitas completely.

Pure German efficiency. A surgeon at work.

Did this tyre perhaps end up @ WOA (Tygervalley)??? I poped in there this afternoon on my way home (w.r.t. some tyre info) & Hando showed me a Mitas E07 tyre that fits that exact description??

Sure glad the Rommel mannaged to save the bike under that "Instant Deflation" episode..... :thumleft:

Glen, good to see you are using that 640 for its intended purpose!!

Looks like an interesting adventure with all that water and snot on the road.  We have had difficult times in the Karoo with less water around so you guys seemed to have done very well!

For me it is just like that 640 and Glen is a perfect fit/match.  Think it was a good buy for him.  :thumleft:

Riding the mud was great fun. Took a few tumbles too but that's the way to learn. Great company as well. Thanks Riaan, am very happy with the bike...glad you convinced me to take it. It has that oomph that the 650 lacked. Your RR was monumental in comparison.
