Thanks for organising and leading the ride, Andy.  It's always nice to go up to that kloof.  It's different every time.

I was particularly touched that while a few of us were waiting for the rest of the group, that locals who were kuiering there came over and offered us chips and cooldrink.  I thought it was the nicest gesture and although we declined I was quite touched.  Thanks to them.

The second last outride I was on was a Yamaha affair out to the Overberg and beyond.  Again I was at the back in a grandstand position to watch another rider flip his KTM 690 in exactly the same way as Justin did - off the gravel and onto the tar - yehaa!  Fortunately for him his pants were made of stronger stuff, but he still got hurt enough to bail out of the ride soon after.  Please guys, keep your wheels on the road when in a group.  My heart can't take this abuse.

Ja, Heddles and I had a great run in with Farmer Brown!  We both thought he was going to try to hit us, so we kept our helmets on - he was waaay out of control.  His dad came out eventually and things calmed down, but it took a time.  While we were "talking" one of the riders came back to see where we were. He was riding at a snail's pace, but our farmer said, "Kyk hoe vinnig ry hy.  Hy jaag so deur my plaas".  That put it into perspective for me.  I'm not sure if he's have been satisfied if we had walked our bikes through his yard.  He was just pissed that anyone should ride through his farm (on a public road) and not ask his permission.  We're right - he's wrong, but we can't ride there anymore.  So it goes.

What with Justin's flip and the farmer's freak-out I was feeling a bit out of sorts, so it was calming to get to the canal road and up the tweespoor with no further drama.

Sorry some of the senior WDs left early.  The kuiering is a big part of the day.

I did get to snaffle a little ride on Justin's 450 Husky.  Hell that thing is fun.  Brings meaning to "Point and Shoot".  Brilliant bike.  I want one.

We're right - he's wrong, but we can't ride there anymore.  So it goes.

Why not? If it is public road then he can get stuffed.

Where is this farm, want to go for a ride Saturday....  >:D

Please mark this place on a GPS map for us, I think I know where it is and have been there before, want to make sure I do not go there again if the farmer is full of shit.

I'm sure it's nothing a bottle and a few sweet words couldn't fix, but quite frankly, why bother?  I'm never going past there again.

no sense in aggravating issues.

Even as a public road taking a gentler and diplomatic approach to get the farmer to understand that it is public is better than letting thing escalate
So much of win it hurts! ^.^

Agree  :thumleft:

Nothing to be gained in pissing the farmer off even more, some unsuspecting biker might end up having trouble innocently taking that road.

Either we go there with the intentions of politely sorting this out with the farmer, or just avoid this road altogether.

It takes just one biker to screw this up for everyone else.

Then it is the farm I went through on my last "stoning ride".

You might be referring to Ongegund Farm off the R45.

Yes, that is the one I was thinking of, been through there a few times as well, never had any issues there.

Having said that, whenever we ride through or past places like these, regardless of where they are, a lot of places in the Cederberg also come to mind, Eselbank being just one example, we try to pass with the minimum w.r.t. speed, dust and noise.

That road is closed now or is the Private Property board a tactic to keep people out?
