After only 4 days of ownership the tinkering has started
Will update this thread with pics and details as I go, Must say this bike is a beast, sitting on it for the first time was a bit of a shock, the 660Z although not a big bike feels huge by comparison, the first few km's felt like I was riding a 50 again! nimble is not even the word the light weight and silly power make it a twisty's monster, you just lean it into a corner and keep leaning and keep leaning, grab a huge hand full of throttle and power through the corner, and each time I sit back up I think "damn I could go much faster than that next time"

The few niggles so far,
1. The Stock Pipe, Ughh sounds kak, weighs a ton, was going to keep it for a bit and only replace it after run in but after hearing the new Wings pipe also needs 300ks of run in before heavy use I decided to run them in together, Looks much better, Sounds much much better and the motor feels likes it too, Mounting was easy (took 15 minutes) including a beer and lots of time spent drooling. I have left the supplied DB killer in the pipe, and have also opted to not have it remapped, this bike really doesn't need any more power and I have heard of folks having issues with the akro map and surging. No Surging no flame outs, EFI is spot on!

2. Stock rear indicators, Very poor design and I cant believe after all this time and a new face lift for 2012 KTM still has not done anything about them, After 150ks and about 4ks of rough trail the left one broke, the right one broke the next day. They are too low and the rubber of poor quality, KTM PE gave me a set of flush mount flickers free of charge which look much better. I must say the 690R is very nice to work on, easy to disassemble and to mod!

3. I like Bling  :ricky: so I had KTM through in a pair of Airtime Orange pegs into the deal (Along with raisers and a touring screen) I used the same airtimes on my XTZ and really like them, and they look  :drif:

4. After an hour or 2 of 120kph on the road I realised that a screen is essential, my arms were getting tired from holding on. My KTM touring screen arrived yesterday and I fitted it and took a test drive, Much better, although it does make the bike a little more head shaky but by simply pushing a little with one hand while relaxing a little with the other its not an issue.it also looks the great

I will start tuning the suspension next and get the setup right, then Ill see where my tinkering leads me  :lol8:

I've Got lots more planned
