True Zonkel. Youre a legend at that.

And hopefully LS will get rid of his pimp suit.

Very nice report LS. Sorry for dragging this out of the archives, but where exactly is this gravel pass?

Unfortunately it's just an untarred pull-over spot along the tarred Franschoek pass

That shed in the sqaure, is the Shunting Shed, a restaurant/pizzeria frequented by bikers.  Very nice place for a stop.

There are actually two of those, where the old road went around the rock butresses, but when the road was improved in the fifties, they cut trough the hills behind.

By the way, LS, where did you get on to the name Witdraai used earlier in the post?

My dad had that farm years ago: the official name was Wheatlands, but it was known among the locals as Witdraai. Quite knowledgable you are, it seems?

Seeing those photo's of the dust eating reminded me of times when Rooipoot & myself were much younger, and Dad still had a Chev pickup.  Where you guys "ate the dust" on your way to Boontjieskraal pad was lots of puddle jumping on Monday mornings getting Rooipoot (and later Rooipoot took me) to school...  And that's the gravel road where we learned how to drive.

Nicki will also remember those spots.  More than likely he, like me and Rooipoot, also "tried-out" the pickup or dad's car for "a spin"...  >:D >:D

Ag ja boet...

wow, very little people would of pulled over to help somebody on the side of the road...

even less people would have offered to fetch them fuel and then still returned.

nicely done!
