pic 4 looks a bit odd.... where is the rotor wash?

Photoshop, unless the Oryx is flying over ice.
If it is ice, then the colour is strange - there must be an interesting story there either way.

I think that the forward velocity of the chopper is greater that the down draft velocity of the rotors, thus the wake is just out of frame.

I'd have to go with xTzar's explanation. If that is a photoshop, it's just too good - the light, reflections, shadows and details are just too spot on.

He'd have to have been moving rather fast though - even given shortening of depth of field with a zoom lens, he's rather close to the water!

Good picture, great flying.

I do not think that dying is a good idea.
Living doing something that you love is a good idea.
Living until you die is a good idea. If living happens to kill you it means you made a mistake, but we are human, and humans make mistakes, so go for it, enjoy it, live until you die, rather than not living for your whole life.

With a forward speed of up to about 306km per hour and a downwash of about 120 km per hour ( pilots - help!! long time since I used these numbers so they may be wrong ) the wash should be seen within three times the altitude, which would put the front of it in the frame.

Luckily:
1) I got photographs of my daughter after she got home
2) There is not much white water or ice in the Kalahari
