my RR

Day 1:

Grrrr!, Fuzzy Muzzy and myself left from the Winelands 1Stop at ą7:30 on Friday with the idea of having lots of time to reach Price Alfred's Hamlet before the agreed meeting time of 9:30. We were there with nearly an hour to spare.

We had some coffee and breakfast and upgraded VaalBaas's and WatKykDjy's bikes.

First stop on gravel with Ant doing a matador impression

Beer Stop at Padstal. The bike placement was purely coincedental

In the Tankwa Karoo National park (I think)

Sardinecan trail

Towards Gannaga pass

Beserker styling

Dave fixing his failed patch

Little did I know there was a thorn in my worn tire that Tau spotted (hell knows how). I helped him in the morning to fix it. Thanks Tau  :thumleft:

Tau explaining to Mof's bokkie about strap-on horings

As usual Mof made a perfect spit. The homemade chutney was the best I ever tasted. Kransgat will forever be a place with fond memories.

some people rode harder than others.

I had to laugh at Tau.. he walks past your bike.. sees the thorn half sticking out,. asks himself if he should pull it out.. pauses about 1 second, pulls thorn.. psssssssssssss.. the best part was him trying to put the thorn back in like it was a plug.  :imaposer:

Day 2:

what a spot

die uithuis met die beste uitsig

selfshot minus duckface

Mof just before Ganaga

The last few km's before Stonehenge is a nice open piece with sand. Masehare waved me past him and the road just lay open in front. blasted past FuzzyMuzzy at quite a rate. Stopped at Stonehenge sooooo  pumped and absolutely in love with a bike that can take an average rider like me over that terrain at that speed without feeling out of control.  freeeeaaaaking awesome
Tau giving me the evil eye because I probably still had a stupid grin on my face

the camel at Stonehenge

spot the camelbak

after crossing the riverbed and regrouping before the climb starts

VaalBaas and his HondaPower2

Down into the Sederberg. Tau dissappeared down this moerse steep little pass. We were down 2/3 when he was at the bottom

Tau, Grrrr!, VaalBaas and BuRP

from here it was on to Wuppertal and another fast ride to Oasis. The pass after Wuppertal is very bad at the moment, full of ruts and not maintained recently.

At Oasis it was nice to have a swim and a cold beer.

BuRP packed for the long trip home on Sunday

as usual Gerrit and Chantel made delicious food. I think 48 people ate there that evening and it is only the two of them. The service was still better than most restaurants.

time to talk nonsense and chill

Beserker and WatKykDjy

Grondpaaie and his wife Crystal (spelling sorry?)

Mof, Tau and VaalBaas

Day 3:

Nice breakfast at Oasis. Grrr and myself took off towards Gouda. Tau invited whoever would listen to VaalBaas' place

Just before Gydo pass some unfortunate insect went into my ear. I pulled over and Grrr stopped as well. When we tried to go the bike was dead. We suspected some loose wire because the lights went on and off when he wiggled the headlight. Tau, VaalBaas and Tau's dad caught up to us and Tau quickly found the fault. Loose battery terminal. 5 minutes later we were on our
way.
Grrr swaaing a bit of spanner

a final beer before going home at VaalBaas' spot. Thanks  :thumleft:

final words:

diverse group with a common interest. riding speed compatible. no whiners, moaners or dwarstrekkers. everyone were just chilling and enjoying the company and ride. Hopefully I'll ride with you guys again.

Special thanks to Dave for organising everything. Thanks to Mof for "volunteering" his place and preparing a feast ;D. Thanks to Tau for being mechanic and showing the route in places.

JC se woorde
"diverse group with a common interest. riding speed compatible. no whiners, moaners or dwarstrekkers. everyone were just chilling and enjoying the company and ride. Hopefully I'll ride with you guys again."

Foto's het ek my beste 2 gepost.

THANKS-A-MILLION manne.

Sien uit na die Dave-JC plan
