Mambat down!
« on: March 17, 2013, 05:13:30 pm »
Sitting here in huge pain in Bloem!

Came off 40 km/s outside Burgersdorp.
Bike high sided me properly and landed badly!

No X-ray but Dr on duty reckons broken collarbone, ribs, little finger and badly sprained ankle and faked toes  :'(

Mission getting to Bloem, bike still in Burgersdorp with hardly any damage!
Flight back to Cape Town only at 20h00 so the pain saga continues!

And the saddest part it happened two days into a ten day ride!

Hey Mambat,

Brings back painful memories for me, I can sympathise my friend...

I came off a few kilometres outside of Boshoff (same time of the year on the Easter week-end) on the first day of a 5,000km trip. Hit mud at 100km/h, tank slapper, then high-sided the fully-laden 1150GSA with it landing square on my back. I had similar injuries to you and spent a few days in Kimberley before my wife could come and fetch me.

Fortunately time heals but broken ribs SUCK dude...

Good luck with the logistics around the bike and yourself. All you can do when you get back home is to have a lekker hot bath and RELAX FOR MANY DAYS!!!

Heal well bru...

Friend if your flight is only 20h00 make sure you have got some pain pills with you.
With those ribs can you sit up for more than a hour? Think the flight is going to be some ordeal.
Strongs to you :eek7:
