I feel your pain Mambat. I had a similar slow accident last year which broke 3 ribs. Very eina. Slept in an armchair for many weeks as it was too sore to lie down.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery

You said it .... slip in concentration on a bike can prove hazardous .... heal quick and get back on the pony carry on ... as long as it's only bones - they'll mend .... :thumleft:

Hi Mambat

Strong mate, I am 3 weeks into my ordeal of getting better. It is a slow process I can tell you but I am getting better. The only thing is to get the right pain killers and keep yourself as still as possible. To move around is eina. I also agree 100% about the neck brace. If I had not worn mine I am positive that I would have been a gonner as I also hit head first.
Anyway get well soon I know what you are going through.

Morning all!

I would love to say I had a pleasant evening but OMG that was a rough night !

I had plenty X-rays and a CT scan of my chest, neck and throat.
Ribs are cracked, all little muscles between ribs are torn or pulled.
Broken left wrist, broken left little finger, broken big toe and badly bruised heal .
But those are the minor injuries, my collarbone is broken in multiple places,
Worst it has sheared off from the centre of my chest and resting against windpipe
Very lucky no damage done there or I would not be typing this  ::)

ER specialist reckons looking at my injuries and the impact points that if I had not had
My neck brace the injuries would have been far more serious, the brace also prevented
The collarbone from pushing further.

So here I am feeling very sorry for myself, the reality has kicked in, gonna be a long road to
Getting better but hey it could have been worse!
On a bright note Tramacet is a wonderful drug, you get to float around the room all day  :)

Thanks again for all the well wishes, very much appreciated  :thumleft:

For those that don't have neck braces I seriously urge you to reconsider!
This is now the second time it has saved me from far more catastrophic injuries!
Thank you Chris.

Cheers

Mambat

Subie......get the brace!

I would never want to say to myself if only I had been wearing it.
The proven technology is available at very little money actually!
I mean my CT Scan is more than double the cost of a brace!

Hey Si, I could not believe it when I read the heading to this thread. I am really sorry that you had this off, but relieved that you walked away, albeit somewhat banged up. I had heard that one of the group had gone done and was out of the trip but did not realize it was you.

I wish you a good and speedy recovery, and if you need help with anything please give me a shout.

Hey Mambat

Your fall serves as warning to us, to just once again take it easy, and allways to wear the gear.

I am glad that you will recover from this, and be back again.

I wish you lots of patience for the pain, and a complete&speedy recovery.

regards

Louis
