All the best with the recovery. 

Recovering from such injuries makes you learn what the word patience means.

Your first post says you were doing 40km/s.  These KTMs impresses me more and more by the day. :laughing4:

You heard correct except Mike came off on Friday just outside Parys with shoulder injuries and concussion
Then I moered off yesterday, not a great way to start our Lesotho Epic!

You misread me, I came off forty kilometers outside Burgersdorp.
But I was definitely not doing more than 60 km/when I got spat off.
It  was a slow pull off into second gear, bike flicked hard left wheel spinning off the camber
As it so often does!
Except this time I was NOT concentrating, my seat position all wrong and the bike high sided me
Instantly!

It happened that fast!

I had a beautiful 18 year old blonde drive me through to Bloem  8)
I caught a lift with her on her way back to Bloem Uni.
I have to say the people in Burgersdorp were amazing especially Karin Coetzee!
My guardian angel!
Karin worked at the doctors practice, she fetched me from Burgersdorp Govt Hospital (you don't want to end up there believe me!) took me to her Dr, called the pharmacist to come open up so I could get painkillers and anti inflammatories, organized to get my bike safely stored, opened up her home
To us so we could regroup and even offered us lunch!
And yes best of all I got to drive for two and half hours with her BEAUTIFUL daughter to Bloem  :love4:

High side is when the back wheel wants to overtake the front wheel,but can only do so if you are off the bike. You will seldom be able to look out for it,it sort of just happens.



Edited to add. It is the least best way to dismount ,as you will get thrown into the air with the possibility of the bike collecting you as well. It is the thing that I fear the most.

Correct...

Rear wheel spins outwards in an arc then usually hooks up and in a violent motion throws you over the top
Of the bike.......the high side!

If you watch MotoGP you see extreme examples of that !

Rear wheel spins outwards in an arc then usually hooks up and in a violent motion throws you over the top
Of the bike.......the high side!

If you watch MotoGP you see extreme examples of that !

That's why you should always ride with a motard tire on the rear when on gravel; it never hooks up  :laughing4:

Vasbyt for the flight back down, it's gonna hurt but the flight attendants will take good care of you. That broken collarbone is a pain in the ass and I can already tell you now, if the skin ain't broken they will probably only do the op later in the week when the swelling has gone down :-(
