I like machines that's over-engineered in the sense that you can see it can take the punch. Last night I saw a 2005 Honda CR-250R with character marks, but evidently up to much more before ever giving up.
My question is this: I'm looking for a 2-stroke bike which is modern and preferrably 250cc or over, but what service life and running cost can I expect from a modern high-output 2-stroke engine when used for commuting on highways?
It would have to be an enduro which I'll either keep as is or convert to a supermotard. Failing that I'll probably go for a Husqvarna SM125S which at least has 29kW to play with in a 114kg package.
