My daughter wants a dirtbike.....
« on: March 31, 2013, 11:26:33 am »
So it"s her 17th birthday coming up and her best friend has a CRF230F.  But my daughter is a real shorty.  What do you guys recommend for a beginner?

She takes after her Dad - once the bug is bitten you cant get rid of the itch....

I'm looking for budget friendly but must have electric start.......

Any thoughts??

Its a good healthy habit and will give her meaning which teenagers need.  If you have the bucks go for it!

I upgraded my daughters from their 125 to a 200 Djebel. Their feet touch the ground and they are comfortable. Not too much power so a good transition. Good value for money.

Build a sidecar they said. It will be fun they said. Ja-nee !

Still look at the crf230, but see if you can't drop the suspension to accommodate her shortness.

Crf230 :thumleft:

Maybe make it road legal too
I'm not saying kill stupid people, I'm saying, remove the warning labels and let the problem sort itself out.

To drop is easy, just lenghten the rear suspension links and lower the triple clamps. Links you'll have to experiement, 10mm further apart each time.

+1, you can raise and lower the suspension without much effort or cost, the 230 is a good choice

Yamaha TTR230. Great bike,  reliable, easy to ride and I'm sure it's got a happy button. I think it's lower than the Honda as well.

TTR250 is awesome but very high, the TTR230 on the otherhand is lower than the CRF.......Oh by the way, I have a virtualy brand new CRF for sale  depending on where you are you are welcome to pop around with your daughter and she can test ride both a TTR250 and the CRF to get a feel for what fits :thumleft:

Another option ios the KDX200.

Nice for the shortie, down side is no happy button, but they start with only half a kick :deal:
