Track from Patensie to Steytlerville
« on: January 31, 2006, 10:49:52 am »

The track leading from Patensie to Steytlerville. The first part is ok, then changes into a    jeep track with some awesome views from the top of the mountain and in the valley. Once out of the valley it's just good offroad riding turning onto the usual quality Karroo gravel road leading into Steytlerville, where you must visit the Karroo Hotel.

This should be the starting waypoint - maybe somebody can check and confirm :P

Thanks Wino been looking for that route. I have ridden the track but instead of going to Steytlerville I rode on to Elandsriver / PE. Also lots of fun to ride.

Game accross this rather old post (Jan 2006) re the mountain crossing route between Patensie and Steylerville.  As I took some photographs in mid-2005 members will get a better understanding of this awesome route with spectacular views, roads/tracks that has seen much better days, and an exciting river crossing through the Groot River.  The environment is very similar to the Baviaanskloof route.  Just a word of caution...this route is not much used and you will most likely see no one during the trip.  It should thus not be undertaken alone.  Help is very far away!!!Enjoy  8)

This is were you will end up taking some bends to fast ... 700 m down!

Better section of road :o

A magnificent track to be sure!

I am going up (down?) to Joubertina for Christmas...perhaps I'll have time to explore this road
