We had curie and rice for lunch at Parados lodge, were we could rest a bit and ease our feet in the swimming pool. After lunch Willem and Hendrik took a well deserved 10minute rest while Maria played with her grandson, Alwyn and Michelle sat at the pool and Deon was missing in action if I could guest he too took a forty winks..  :peepwall:

Our last session for the day started smoothly, as we entered the Wild life reserve with the roads the Jan Ells opened for us. It became rocky and steep. The GS’s heated up quickly and the breaks started to become spongy. Squeaking as we break down the incline. Barriers showed us a beautiful view point that we stopped for a bit for the fuel tankers to cool down, after a while as we pour water on the breaks the steam was incredible, the engine pods boiled. They took a hard beating that day....

We got home, got a beverage and set off to a wild farm close to Barries’s farm, just for the fun of it. We stopped at the dam and continue to the river. Michelle had the fixation of a fruit called either a “botter or wyn klapper” but due to not being ripe we couldn’t determine which one. But very interesting indeed.

That night was our last night and faces started to hang, nobody wanted to leave. This farm could easily slide for a bed and breakfast. The food is exquisite, the personality is fibrint, and nobody wanted to leave. But like the saying goes all good thing must come to an end. So we ate, we chatted, and we stretched the night.

The next morning Hendrik and Alwyn went out for the last time to play on the farm with Louw. As the rest of us got the things together. We ate our kings breakfast geared up and said our last goodbye. We sat off to the long journey home. . .

We drive through Barberton to fuel up the fuel tankers, and set for Josef’s dal pas, tar swooping bends that the guys enjoyed thoroughly 43km and switching to the gravel pas to oshoek. All you can see is mountains and green, trees and streams. The view in indescribable for others that wasn’t there, but let’s see if we can try, the gravel crunches under the tires, the breeze smell of fresh land and feels like the beginning of spring. The mountains are so enticing that you want to climb them, the grass you want to sleep in so soft it looks. The sky so clear like nothing you’ve ever seen.

We stopped at Witbank for supper and set out onto the N4 to home. This was the best weekend we have had. The gravel roads were out of this world, the company was the best you could ask for and the food was made for kings. We want to say special thanks for Willem for arranging this and plotting all the routes. For everyone that went with thank you for the company and a pleasure riding with you. And a special special thanks to Barries and Gerda, Marias sister, for opening their home and providing us with food and lodging.
This was a fantastic weekend. Hope you enjoyed reading..
From the Barberton GS team.
