Different thought / suggestion. as I cannot read German and as a result not sure of their touring plans. Would it no be a better idea to have the bike repaired in Joburg using the donations and then them being able to continue with tour? This subject of her being able to ride the bike herself with sore wrist? the bike does not look that badly damaged and with all the dogs contacts sure it can be repaired on a budget?
my thought anyway

You make a good point
I'm not saying kill stupid people, I'm saying, remove the warning labels and let the problem sort itself out.

agreed, how much damage is there actually to the bike? What would it cost to repair and who can repair the bike quickly?

Also....please educate me.....what is a carnet?

Carnet - is a document issued in the origin country to make moving items through countries without kak. You lodge a deposit in the origin country and when you return to origin they give you your deposit back. If no return to origin you do not get your deposit back.

And Carnet is equal to or higher than value of bike if I'm not mistaken
You know you've landed with the wheels up when it takes full power to taxi to the ramp.

All good, the financial implications about repair and the carnet were considered by Marco, furthermore Sylvia won't be able to ride herself and maintain control with a broken wrist. Time also plays a factor, so decision has been made to bring the bike up to Walvis and ship it back together with Marco's katoom once back. At least they can now continue with their planned tour. He can also do the repair himself in Germany, which will be cheaper than having it done here. No disrepect to any dogs here, that's for sure, in fact they were flabbergasted by the support received!
