So, it's Sunday and another one of those absolutely magnificent days in Africa, not a cloud in the sky   :sunny:  not a breath of wind, just warm autumn sunshine...one would say a perfect day to jump onto my 990R, fill the tanks, and head off in no particular direction.

However, I'm on standby for work and therefore I have to stay close to home and leave my phone on   :P

So with nothing else to do,  I get onto my trusty daily commuter to go fetch the Sunday papers...notice the casual ATGATT (I did put on a helmet after the photo, at least!)

Now I could go 2.6 km up the tar road to the CNA, but why do quick and easy? Instead I head off into deepest darkest Africa to follow a few lesser known routes...

Along the game park fence,

It's a bit overgrown in places but slowly slowly the (not so low down!) power of the 100cc 2 smoke pulls us through

I jump off to recce the way ahead,

While "the machine" waits patiently,

Back onto some dirt highway,

Even a steep little switchback "pass" to negotiate...

In no time at all that technological marvel was at the top!

Back next to the game park fence..

Then off the mountain and into "palm grove",

Down a tricky (for a scooter) patch of dirt and over a small stream...

and up a long bumpy climb to the top of the next hill.

Along the way I've come across "wild Africa"...from this little chap...

..to his MUCH bigger cuzzies...

Some buck...very wary of the ring-ting-ting rattly scoot,

...an antelope stare down   ???

And then I find it...the Lost City   :eek7:

Okay, so that's given it away! A big plus of living and working at Sun City is that, even when I'm "on duty" I can still pretend I'm riding Africa

A few more pics of my morning ride...

The game park fence mentioned above is the Pilanesburg National Park, it runs along about 8 km of Sun City's boundry. I've sat at various points along this fence and watched elephant five meters from me...I'm brave with the fence between us of course!

Total kilometers traveled, 23
Fuel used, 1 liter (plus a few milliliters of 2 stroke oil)

...oh yes, when I got to the CNA they had sold out of newspapers   ::)

No doubt  :)  But the thing has no suspension worth talking about, and it's very difficult to stand while going over the rough bits   ;D
