Lets be honest Tweets post was a bit of an overreaction to the OP. After that the fred went to pieces.

Guys who already have free/homemade stickers can keep them, but distributors need to pay a R5 royalty per sticker on a go forward basis. Seriously, why does this have to be such a big deal?

Its KR's deal and the way he wants to manage it is his decision. Its not a democracy. KR and his co founders have put a lot of time and effort building this forum into what it is now, and if they want to control the branding then the decision still remains with them. Anyone who wants to openly rebel against the founders decision can go ahead but the consequences are obvious. Bit like KR's avatar - Let me tell you something Pendejo... ;D

A bit silly to start a pissing contest over a sticker that costs only five bucks. :dontknow:

At least there are stickers readily available now - Something we have all be moaning about for years.

Ai toggie... the way I see it... if needs / wants aren't met, people will seek it elsewhere...

KR, you go on about building the brand and yet you are busy destroying it yourself, with some radical decisions which are starting to divide people on your precious forum.

This forum was all about solidarity when I joined and now.... for a few months, it has just gone a bit backwards... with a lot of in-fighting and so on.

I commend you on all your ventures and even though you have asked for help, you are a bit reluctant to relinquish a bit of control.

Fuck oke, there's people out there who wish to help and to build up the awesomeness that used to be being a wild dog.

Wake up!

Agreed, thread was entertaining enough, but think it should come to an end now

As a lot of other dogs, I was sorry to see Tweets get banned, hopefully KR and Tweets can settle their differences, But that is between them, and thus stay there

Big ups to KR for not giving in after making a clear decision, think we all saw how fast thing can go wrong

Lets ride

Shit......................little did i know that my initial post (no7 on page 1) would open such a can of worms. :bueller:

Truly - my initial light hearted intention was to get KR to comment on the leave behind sticker royalties, something he claims he did not know about at the time. Shows you - if it is a contentious issue - people tend to take it serious!

The facts are the following:
1     The forum is a branded entity which carries weight w.r.t. advertising etc.... and KR is entitled to take counterfeighting seriously.
2     Stckers are now being printed and sold through a dedicated network of suppliers. If you need one buy it from there and get the REAL deal.
If you have been printing unbranded stickers before..stop it and don't use them!
3     Lets face it - Tweets overstepped the line a bit and KR is in his rights to ban the guy, notwithstanding that he may be a huge contributor to the   WD brand. Lets leave them to sort it out!
4    As for the issue on personalised avatar leave behind stickers - whether you leave a sticker trail or not, your choice. Decisions w.r.t. viability of the branded ones at the current price is personal. Buy them or don't

I apologise for adding to the confusion in my initial post ::)

KR : " I appreciate that the person in question is a stand up guy, which leaves me more perplex by his behavior. Maybe you can shed light on this matter?"

OK I do not profess to know Tweets that well or his intentions, but will explain how I see it.

During the time that it was very difficult to obtain WD authorized stickers, he made generic ones so that people can also have a sticker.

He was ethical in that he did not copy the actual authentic WD brand, nor did he include the WD URL, further he refuses to sell it, so not making a profit. He also refuses to post it or give it away unless someone has made the effort to go to a Bash or "jol".

So in essence he was not "stealing" revenue, nor counter-fitting, he was doing his bit to assist in a void. He did this out of his own pocket.

I imagine I can understand his perspective, he has done so for some time, purely to help build the brand, but instead of a thanks he is chastised.

(I am not saying it is right or wrong - just explaining it how I see it)

His blunt statements and amusement, may have stemmed from the fact that he feels he is doing WD a service, not disservice.

So really I doubt he was trying to undermine the WD brand. He may be hardegat, but I wont label him as someone intent on ripping of the brand.

I tend to agree with ballie but Tweets should have read the thread before posting his silly remarks
He tends to jump into the middle of an argument without first reading the argumentative sides and ends up pissing some one off
He's done it to me before...........and i don't hold it against him
I like the guy
KR likes him too and contrary to popular belief is not as hardegat as most think
( i think i am worse than him)
I'm sure this will be sorted out amicably

PING Tweets - give the guy a call! :thumleft:

Unfortuantely I have no way of determining which of the stickers on my moto are legal and which have been clandestinely manufactured and counterfeited, so to prevent confusion in this regard I reckon best to remove them all eh....

eish.... sincere apologies for any possible infringements on anyone's perceived or otherwise brand or copyrights...

No, not quite the same thing Robc...the paw is not copy written (it cannot be) .....so no infringement...the infringement would come if one had WD written inside the paw or something if that were copywritten which by all accounts it is not.

there are zillions of stickers of the paw sans any writing etc...I have seen them on vehicles owned by ppl who don't know an adventure bike from a superbike....

so , it is not theft to download an image of the net which is not copywritten an making stickers from it....nothing illegal in that an KR alluded to such in a previous post....

The fact that people " counterfeit " the " Brand " is indicative of its success and as a result the reason for the shortage. In business its supply and demand and if a " customer " cannot EASILY obtain what he wants at the right price he buys else where. Simple. I am proud to be a member and display my stickers with pride. Our local group of riders (Grahamstown Greyhounds) all have personalized shirts proudly displaying the WD emblem. We don't sell it at traffic lights and don't market it. Next time I have a batch made I will gladly send you the art work we require and if you can have them made I will buy from you. I feel that you are not meeting the demand or requirements of the members in this regard and if you where this thread would not exist and the counterfeiting would disappear. I am saying that there is a huge market out there so make use of it.

Two suggestions.

1. Make the standard WD stock available through the bike shop network. Increasing your footprint and also creating a marketing base for new members.

2. Make available a ordering thread where we can order personalized shirts etc that we require.

But hay that would just create more demand and less availability. Got used to that.  :(

OR

Just maybe it would create more income.

I see you ride a BMW - guess you will never buy a BM sticker at R50?  I mean its R4 cost + R45 royalty = 900%  - surely a rip off?

Free market - buy, don't buy ---- just don't rip the brand off.
