It was then off to Oasis and as always a good time. Cant recall much of the rest of the trip, but we visited ETS at Onrus as had become another habit.

While riding an idea was forming. I need that sidecar. Kieth Murray who was building cars was now in Rheenendal. We would stop there on our way home and I'd talk to him about building me a frame.

"I'll never get in that thing" she says, and so the idea was still born  :lol8:

But I was not going to ride a overloaded bike again. So the next idea starts. That's what I love about riding, the lost in thought, pondering.

I was going to build a uni-trailer for it.  :ricky: I love the idea of trailer on a bike. It just looks too cool.

Back home Tiger8 and I jumped on it in a flash and in short time google and us had it together. It worked, after a few oops ! test rides, but need more R&D. I had made it too long and it was controlling the bike.

And then in March it came to a sudden stop and got shelved, until I gave it away the other day...

... along came Gus. For reasons I cant explain, I suddenly got the urge to want to need a Kombi camper. It was just going to be a Kombi, but then IanF persuaded me I need  a Syncro, It would keep me busy and bleed me dry for two years. The rest documented elsewhere is history

For the next two years Gus would occupy my life. It got sorted and the joy we've had the past 5 years was worth every cent.

The first trip was August 2016. Just a ride around for the experience. The bus was not going well and needed work, but it got us there and back.

1. Again Kruisrivier that I wanted to show Lyn
2. Somewhere else, I think Nature's valley.
3. My lovely in the forest

There are more pics, but I think I did an RR. Part of the plan was also stopping over at the thumper bash at Koedoeskloof to say hi. Regrettably the vibe between Veltie and me was not good at the time, due to a certain gippo guts incident the year before, so we did not stay over.

On returning from the trip I decided the engine needed a rebuild and the AT got sold. We were due to leave on our year end trip on the 28 th December. The bike was packed. On the morning of 27 December I got a call that the bus is ready and we fetched it.

We decided to take the bus. That turned out a fun trip. The bus was not ready, but it got us to Oasis, round the Cape and back home, hunke-punke.

No power. Every uphill was first gear, cooking it. It needed more porting in the head and some tuning. In February 2017 it was sorted and runs until this day without a snort. Kudu's to my mechanic on that rebuild that I did not blow it on our trip.

2017 was the year my daughter and grand babies moved in with us and we did the renovations. We moved into the flat in December so there was no trip.

Life interrupted and kept us busy.

Of course, in the mean time life did not stand still and my biking continued full blast. This is where we stand now  :ricky:

Genugtig @Gerrard - Dit is omtrent 'n verslag en 'n half! Dis iets om oor te skryf en ek moet bieg, dis iets waaroor ek jaloers is. Nog nooit so iets op my eie aangepak nie wat nog met 'n ander helfte aan jou sy!   :thumleft: :thumleft:

2018 was another trip to Oasis, down the West coast, round the Cape and home. By now you will note that we are hooked on Oasis, rolling back to 2010 when we rode past it and I thought it not worth a stop  :lol8:

There's not much else to tell about the trip, but that its always nice to spend the hours with Wify on the back of the bike.

This is a beautiful multi-layered narrative, Gerrard. Such powerful resonances with my own story and bikes ... and Iím sure that of many others on this forum...
