Africa Bike Week 2013 - Busa RR
« on: April 29, 2013, 09:29:56 am »
So this year the plan was to only shoot through for the day, luckily all plans get sidetracked and at no 99 we sent out tent with buddies, so that we have a spot to crash on Sat night.

Decided to get a set of soft panniers for the Busa and after having a misunderstanding and little rant on WD, finally got the panniers and managed to get the dealer to stop confusing clients with confusing listings on his website.

Being the first time that I have luggage on the Bus, was quite impressed, it handled well, never rubbed paintwork, was far from the exhausts, fitted comfortable with the missus and took the essentials we needed. Change of clothes and undies, toiletries, small gas stove, pot and cups etc for coffee. And few bits.

On Thursday mate picked up the tents, then on Friday got my panniers and loaded and fitted them, ready for Sat early departure.

My riding bud, had to cancel on Friday - so we were riding alone on Saturday morning.

Quintin went through Friday after work and sommer pitched out tent for us and inflated our mattress - now that is service !!

We had a party Friday night - got in bed after 12.00 and up at 05.30 - was a bit slow getting out of bed  ;D

Left at around 06.30, filled up at the garage, had a smoke and on the highway at 07.00. Nice cruising speed of about 160, plenty of cops and traps on the road, but they left us alone.

At Hiberdene we got onto the old road and stopped just outside town, for a smoke break. Two other superbikes stopped as well, had a lekker chat and was off again.

Seeing more and more bikes on the road as neared Shelley Beach, plenty of cars as well.

Got to the campsite just after 08.00, booked in and went looking for our spot. (Look for the sombreros Quintin said  ???)

Ran into some other friends and had a chat on the way and the found the sombreros - meet Varkie 1 and Varkie 2 !!!

Our neighbors, whom befriended Quintin Friday night and man are these 2 characters of note !!! A Laugh a minute !!!

1 - Gear ready to be collected
2 - The panniers
3 - All loaded up Friday night
4 - Sat morning
5 - Ready to roll
6 - Smoke break
7- Missus relaxing at Hibberdene smoke break
Cash, Gas or Ass............ no-one rides for free :-)

I did it because I can, I can because I want to and I want to because you said that I couldn't !!!!!!!

I was there and never seen so much Bling in my life.
The biger the bike the bigger the rider and the more noise he wants to make.

BB, what is the domed shaped thing on top of your soft bags? The one with your avatar printed on it.

Hope you remembered to take the keys out of your bakkie door before you left.

After offloading the bike, changed into short pants, got acquainted with the varkies and were given one Zamalek after the other   ;D

After a few Zamaleks to get the road dust settled, we decided to go in search of some brekfis. Decided on Pistol Saloon. The varkies was joining us.

Well they got as far as the main road from the campsite, then detoured into the first pub, fell of their bikes and stayed there apparently  :imaposer:

Later on they apparently went back to camp to sleep a little and recuperate for the evenings festivities in town.

We got to Pistols, but it was Jam packed. No chance of getting food before supper  :imaposer: Not even a seat or standing room.

So back to Ramsgate and Tom, Dick and Harry Pub, just opened up (11.30) - Yes we were very busy with those Zamaleks from around 08.30 to 11.00  >:D

As we were first patrons - were served promptly and really tasty food.

Stomachs now lined, we popped into the Tops next to them and filled the coolerbox.

Off to Margate main drag to check out HD village, town was packed !!!!!

Saw the usual amount of blinged bikes, accessories, met mates also walking around, but it was so jam packed could not move !!! To many don't as well.

No revving, no burnouts, no drinking outside of JD tent, no smoking inside JD tent.

So after a once up and down, decided we are going to eh carwash, where you can act like a proper biker  ;D

Sat there and chilled, had a few beers and met up with a friend or two.

At around 15.00/16.00 we went and got some meat and back to the campsite. Varkies has just woken up and we started a braai with music from their van and loads of laughter and joking.

I was in bed shortly after we finished braaing and had a lekker rest.

Sunday morning was up early - lying awake from just after 03.00 listening to what must have been some dronkgatte - racing around town like mad men  :-\

Luckily no bad babelaas from getting in bed early enough to sleep through my babelaas  :imaposer:

Made brekfis, once everyone was awake at a leisurely pace, then packed up camp and hit the road around 10.30, because the mass ride was one, got on the highway at Shelley Beach and slabbed it home at 160 again.

Met plenty bikes on the way also going home. Speed traps again did not bother us.

Stopped at Sezela for a smoke break and the Ultra City for fuel and then home,

Great weekend

1 - Camp packed up - after brekfis and obligatory Zamaleks
2 - HD's where they belong on the trailer - Varkies ready to head home with the mother of all hangovers  ;D

Ek het die vorige "model" gehad, die wat meer vierkantig is met straps om hulle styf te trek en die was geneig om te hang.

Die nuwe model het nie straps nie maar het inserts binne wat hom styf hou en dus nie laat hang nie.

So baie lekker.

Glad nie verfwerk geskuur ook nie.
