Final drive lube is normally changed at first service and then BMW used to claim was 'lube for life' ? It is a specific Castrol product not readily available off the shelf (I buy from my dealer often as I mainly self service). I replace mine regularlly as a rule as I cannot believe in a life time lube! ....

Whilst your Ford Cortina gearbox or diff does a few 100.000km or factually a whole life on one very ordinary 75W90 gearbox oil fill? What does make the BMW final drive pinion and crown gears so special that they should require fresh gearbox oil every 10,000km. Are the gears really that crappy ???
IMHO the whole "change gearbox & FD oil" story on the R 1100 / 1150 was a whole load of BS originating some time in the 1940's before you could get gearbox oils which work as a lifetime fill.
Now finally on the 1200 someone at BMW corrected that nonsense, a FD packs up because it's of flimsy design or poor quality of manufacture and you guys think it's because someone did not change the oil ???
Or because someone wheelied the bike ??? :lol8: :lol8: :lol8:

As for the case first of all: Troll go away!
You only come here to dump your trash oh well we all have just waited for you! ::)

Your case seems to be very simple: Bike waaaay out of warranty, sorry.
You don't really expect them to be generous, do you ???
I don't really see what you still want from them. They told you it's stuffed, they told you it's out of warranty and you have to pay to get it fixed.

Do bikes with chains have unlimited warranties...

even if I don't change the chain or sprockets for 100 000kms?   :pot:

Well clearly bikes without chains also don't have unlimited warranties on the final drives otherwise the original bike in question would have been repaired.. ;)
Trust that little voice in your head that says 'Wouldn't it be interesting if...'; And then do it.

Ek vermoed hy het nie die Annual Services gedoen nie, dan sal Bmw hom n toffie druk.

Al is die bike 6 jaar oud, omdat km so laag is, sal Bmw nogsteeds help, INDIEN alle Services gedoen was, insluitend elke 12mnde service.

My 1200GT was alos 5 years old, then the diff packed up alos. It had 17 000km on the clock.

I went to Lenny, first thing he asked me was the service book. Bmw paid for the diff.

3mnths later my Uncles diff on his 1200GT also said bye bye, also 5 years old, full service at Bmw, Lenny paid for that diff also  :thumleft:

So without knowing what happened with Linde, I can promise you the Annuals werent done  :thumleft:

The TRANSPORTERS GSA is 4 years old, full service history, plus Annuals done, rear ESA shock said bye bye, Lenny paid for it in full.

Must I go on with examples??

Lenny is the best in the business, if he declines a claim, then you know, something fishy, end of story  :thumleft:
