Bmw vs triumph price diff?

Looking to buy a new bike and ive chpped and changed lots about the choice. It came down to the two 800s out there. Xc vs GS. They suit my need to be able to go play, while offering comfort for my wife when she decides to jump on and also when i decide to meet halfway to cape town with my brothers for a jol. However, i realised there is quite a price differnce between the two once they are sold secondhand.

The Bmw seem to lose its value by R10000 - R15 000grand more than xc at 5000 - 10 000 km. Am i missing something. Is there some reliability issues on the gs that no one seem to mention?
Any advice pls.
