Hi All,

I should be getting a new pletterpet this weekend, courtesty of my GF's sister coming down from UK. Cost shipped from Germany to UK all inclusive is R3489, even with the shitty Rand at R6.40 on www.xe.com

Okay, so its a medium sized pure pitch black Arai TourX, to go with the rest of the pure pitch black KTM I ride.

KE, I think the helmet could do with some stickers or something to make it purty and interesting, pure black is kinda boring, I already have a pure black helmet.

Can you suggest anything? I am not too creative with colours and stuffses. Thanks man!

this was done by one of the lads unplanned when we went for a ride led by Droffarc on this forum. Its all black, but now I have black bootse too.

I think the black theme will work well, the Arai helmet is one of the best if not the best looking DS helmets out there

Awesome lid dude.

Does the black not get too hot out in the sun?

Michnus... hehehe

Funny boy

Shark, nope. I dont think its hotter than any other helmet really. The mere act of throwing one on, makes yer sweat like a pig already, and of course, heaving and tugging on the bike if youre stuck doesnt help. If youre not doing that, then generally youre riding, and with all the air flow, its not an issue at all.

Or maybe thats why I nearly passed out twice already after a heavy day in the sun  :P  (doc did a check and said all is fine)

What about an ORANGE one?
Perhaps with a decal that says 'My other bike is a BMW' :D  :D

LITO, did you compare the price of the lids in the UK? I beleive the UK do not pay sales tax on lids cause they are safety equipment (UK boys, please confirm?). That may make it cheeper than buying from Germany.

Tour-X is a nice lid. I have one myself... in XL! Me just a big bugger!  :D

Don't know about that - lids are pretty expensive over here.

i like the look of the orange pin-stripe logo on the side of the black 950.
perhaps something along those lines.
on both sides:  a big-ish ktm logo on the side , and a smaller one on the peak with maybe a graphic of some sort. all in orange in keeping with the theme on the bike.

will slap something together in photoshop and post the pic.

in the mean time, feast your eyes on this

You should see his own lid, nice ! And the brackets he made for his KTM look like they came straight from Austria. Krazy any contacts who can build me an aluminium rear rack for my DRZ ? I made one out of steel but steel is ugly and heavy  :?

Digital Dan, go hijack your own thread  :P

KE, thats absolutely fantastic! I am a bit of a picky chooser, which is why I chose KTM over a BMW.

Your design is sensational man. Thanks for coming up with a great design. Would love to see what you come up with in photoshop if you are going to do that, and then the question remains. How to make one in real life...

Kudos and Thumbs up!!!!

lito - glad you like it!the design is simple, and should personalise your lid without making it look over-done like every other superbike helmet.

basically it will be vinyl cut. i will draw up the plans in freehand and e-mail them to you, but you will have to find someone that does vinyl cutting in CT. any signage place should be able to do it. also let them do the application as most of the time it can be tricky, and on a curved surface even more so. it is not expensive and should cost less than R100 for cutting and application (and if it looks crap you simply pull it off).

dd - there is a place in strydom park that does alu welding. im sure if you take them the full size prototype that yopuve made they can fabricate it out of alu for you. expect to pay though.

KE, sweet boet, we can work via pm for email and stuff.

Very good man, is this your business? (graphic design)

On that note, if theres anything I can do for you down here, let me know. Take you on a secret ride or two?  :D

Kev, to let you know the helmets were all more expensive in the UK, and I was quite suprised at that. With sales tax and vat and all that nonscence, it came to a reasonable figure (R1000 less than here). Thats 22% odd, and I thrilled for it.
