should I buy 2003 KTM 660 smc
« on: June 07, 2013, 10:57:27 am »
Hey Guys,

I've been lurking here for 4-5 years and enjoyed every minute, time to come out of the shadows and get some expert advise

I've been offered a 2003 KTM 660 SMC for around R28000
the motor was rebuilt by Alfie Cox, New piston, lining etc.

I've been looking at a Honda XR650 but this sounds like a great bike
What comments do the dogs have about this model?
Can I slap some knobblies on and go for a ride in the bush
Any advise would be appreciated

If I was getting into dirt riding, possibly off-road touring, possibly joining the guys here on rides and going to bashes and stuff, I'd go with your initial instincts...

There are many bikes around, go and ride them, decide what you want to do with them, and then have a long think, buy the one that makes your heart flip, after your head has decided your route.

Buy the 660 Find a 640 Adventure with a broken engine and swap engine carb. Then you have a good bike.
