Oi, saw it myself now. Actually bad news as there is a place for a forum like that.

Anyway, I hope we can keep this one a pure DS one in the aftermath of  refugees possibly looking for another home now.

I just would not like this forum to be the replacement forum for everyone?  I would like to see this forum keeping focus on the d/s riders.  Maybe we can start by stating the bikes we ride in our signature space - then we shall know the aliens from the earthlings?!

Cheers

You have my support when it comes to keeping this forum DS based.

Without question the only way to go in my mind.

I just hope that active administration/moderation will keep out the white noise makers.

Yet again I posted after everybody was aware.

I also say keep it DS, Bucc is a fair moderater but unfortunately rides an RT. However he does have a few Yamaha scramblers in the back yard, and has been into 'Die Hel' on a roadbike, maybe he will migrate?
If you can keep your head in the midst of all this confusion, you don't understand the situation!

I actually felt very sorry for Bucc... how do you moderate singlehandedly, such an active forum as that?

Do you feel I must make it official that this site is only for owners of d/s bikes?  - maybe I must run a poll?

Cheers

Hein

I think (hope?) everybody on this forum will want the solid ds focus to remain. Maybe if you can change the logo to something official with a slogan such as "Home of South Africa's dual sporters"? That should do it.

Once again thanks to you and Wino for the initiative. It has come just in time.

Sad news. Is the forum where I started my riding/bike enquiries back in Aug 05 and got first rate advise and tips. Luckily most of those advise and tips, if not all, came from members now involved on this forum. 8)

But, life goes on. I echo all requests to keep this forum "clean" and DS related.

Ja JM, I must tell you that I feel very proud to have been one of the voices encouraging you to get your Dakar.

Times move on, and so do we. This forum was great timing huh.

and the reasons are....

....
Bike SA Forum discontinued for the usual reasons where some idiots write idiotic things and spoil it for the rest. I do not suffer idiots (or rapists, murderers and worse - bike thieves) gladly, especially not when they write defamatory things about others and I get lawyers' letters and have to spend three years of my time, which is already so little that I cannot even read my own forum, defending legal actions. Apologies to the many good guys out there, but I cannot monitor every word of this forum. It has been so successful that it will take four or five hours a day to monitor it, and several defamatory things could still creep in, with lawyers letters and lots of time wasted to follow. Those who do not appreciate the implications of all this and will write nasty letters, and threaten to never buy Bike SA again and worse, you are probably the type who caused the closure. A glimmer of hope - maybe someone out there has suggestions on what else can be done with a site to which any idiot has unfettered access and can write anything he likes and I have to take all the responsibility, legal, moral, financial, keeping out of dark alleys and otherwise. Please advise. We are resurrecting the site for a day or so for advice.

All idiots please stay away.
