« on: June 30, 2013, 08:34:59 pm »
Thanks to the 23 Bikes that came on the Helderberg Yamaha Ride to Oasis.
You were all a Great Bunch to Ride with.
I hope you all enjoyed the riding as much as I did.
The Roads in the Cederberg were good today , not too much dust , I suppose thats not really fair to say as I didnt get much today.

I hope that you will all come and ride with us again next month too.
Normally I would thank the sweeper , but I herd he is still combing the N7 for his keys ?
Buzzlightyear , thanks for taking over  the job and to all of you that waited at intersections and showed the way , Many thanks to you all too.

BIO , you can gooi the pics now,

DONT FORGET THE XT GET TOGETHER ,

Was dust at the back, but nothing unusual. Was a very lekker winters day for a ride. And what are the chances of meeting a cousin in the middle of the Cederberg? Well it happened to me today.

Had some fun in Bainskloof on the way back, pity it's so bumpy.

Thanks again Andy & Gavin for organising & putting together this ride. Was really Gr8 to meet new friends & put the Forum Name to the real face of many of the guys I have not yet had the privilege of meeting.

I have about 130 photos & will defiantly start posting as soon as I have sorted them out. Also got some nice footage from my helmet camera too.

I should have just stayed in bed  ::)

Woke up from a deep sleep at 7:30 to a phone call ' are you coming or not?' I thought it was Kamanya inviting me back to Atlantis.. having had my fair share of farming in the dunes on Sat and feeling a bit broken I made my polite excuses and went back to bed.. realising that I was sure I got that conversation wrong, I checked again, it was Andy, not Andrew.. phone back.. I am on the way !! everyone must have been eager getting up so early  :ricky:

Lekker to meet up with some familiar, faces, shake hands, chit chat, checked for fuel in the sweeper bike.. full tank, good to go, Andy told me that the key was a little wonky and you had to giggle it a bit to get it to work, all is well ! the writing was on the wall within 30 seconds of heading off the bike cut out on me.. 'Bring it on' kindly stopped and we kicked the tyres.. bike started up again, we shrugged and off we went. Just as we hit Moorresburg I checked the fuel again and it was on empty, either I got a false reading when we set off or I was running on fumes or the bike goes from full to empty in 70km then runs for 250km on empty, either way, not knowing how the tank lights worked I figured it was rather safe to fill up now rather than run out on the side of the road and lucky I did, she needed 13L.. big thanks to 'Bring it on' who doubled back to check up on me  :thumleft: again !!

When I was filling up I noticed the key was strapped to the bike but it didn't reach the fuel cap so I unhooked it and after filling up I forgot to reattach to the bike..  :bueller: needless to say when I got to Piketberg there was no longer a key in the bike.. problem.  :dousing:

After P Steyns KTM clutch went we both drowned our sorrows with a hearty breakfast and coffee at Spur, he caught a lift back with other Spur goers and I waited for the knight in shining armour to arrive.. he arrived in the form of 'Crossed-Up' who kindly rode all the way home from the quarry, swapped bikes, went to Andy's to collect spare keys and hoofed it out to me in record time . A MASSIVE thank you to John for saving the day you are a true gentleman. I owe you big time.  :thumleft:

I was still convinced that I could catch the group and resume my sweeping duties as they would have stopped for lunch giving me time to catch up, I said my goodbyes to Crossed up and set off towards Citrusdal.. however the bike was not playing ball cutting out on me again, I plodded on but when it cut out for the 3rd time I called the day quits and headed for home defeated. A slight fault with the kill switch was the buzz kill for the day, easy fix but not on the day.. I survived it back home without any further incident happy in the knowledge that sometimes things just don't go your way.

Looking forward to seeing the photo of my ribs Rudy  :laughing4:

I have to still go through all the video footage I took of the day's ride.....which will only be able to get around to next week some time. I briefly went through some of it & there should be some pretty Cool Screenshots of the guys out on the road. Will post that ASAP.

In the meantime....here are some more photos I took along the road @ various places we stopped.

First stop to refuel & re-group was Pieketburg.
