SWAZILAND - Panata Lodge
« on: December 10, 2007, 08:38:05 am »
Panata Lodge is situated in Swaziland, at the foot of the plateau falling down to Mozambique.  The coordinates are S26.31509 E31.63275. It is on a working ranch and provides luxury and incredible off-road riding.

The managers are a German couple, Folkie and Manuela. They are very good hosts and are trying very hard to attract more visitors. They too are Adventure Riders, having come through Africa from Europe on a Honda NX 650. They have some stories to tell!

Folkie is dead keen to start guided out-rides from the lodge, and from what we saw, any level of rider should be easily catered for. The rides can be as difficult or as easy as you like. Or, do as we did, armed with a GPS and T4A we were able to ride for a long time and not do the same track twice, and not get lost due to the abundance of main roads to take you back to the lodge.

The accommodations will not disappoint, actually nothing about this lodge will disappoint anyone.

It's a friggen motorcycle, it's not supposed to be comfortable, quiet or safe. The windnoise is supposed to hurt your ears, the seat should be hard and riding it should make you shit your pants every now and then. Suck it up. -- Scary Gary MC

I think they did have Jack in store - but nobody asked!

When I first enquired they said we need not bring any booze, they have most everything. I was too poked to start on hard-tack, and my unfriendly side shows after some whiskey  ;)
