The people here are doing very well but the municipality spends absolutely nothing on upkeep. Our streets are falling apart and no street lights work. Maybe 10 in the whole town. The robots have been down for so long that once they came and fixed it people still used them as a 4way stop even though they were working again

Its maybe a nice holiday spot for the rich, but living here is a PIA.

I am out as much as humanly possible, then I have to get back  :xxbah:

Have you ever arrived at a destination where you cannot wait to get the Hell out as fast as possible and vow never to return? I have been to such a place three years ago and I am only able to talk about it now. After taking Medication upon arrival and being haunted for a very long time by this ghastly experience I can reveal the name of this Place. Lüderitz in Nam.

Arrived late in Luderitz and left early so not really experienced the place. The B&B we stayed was a bit tatty though.

Landed in Warmbad in the south east of Namibia.  Very dilapidated and sad place.

Tough buggers in that area. We buy wood in Gauteng, some saw and/or chop wood, they break wood. (can't buy any there)

Made the best of a bad situation and actually enjoyed the evening:

Clever Man, leaving early when in Lüderitz is an absolute necessity but some have to learn the hard way. Not arriving there is the best way.

Luderitz is great. Some of my best memories from when I was laitie and later on in life

Warmbad (the Namibian one) is a bit sad but also cool. Lively shebeen.

If you stay on the outskirts of town, Lambertsbaai is fine

OK, I suppose if you live in Parow, everywhere else is fantastic.

Nothing happened at the shebeen when we were there but it must be lively, very lively. The bar is properly fenced off / burglar barred but even the band stage is fenced. Must get wild in there.

HaHa.  you know you're in a rough place when the bar is burglar barred, the urinals are encased in a steel cage, most of the windows are covered in shutter ply and the tables have plastic table cloths.  Probably best to go well armed.

Not dangerously wild, just lively. Lucky Striker and Wino were with me the first time and we all survived relatively unscathed. Can't remember a band stage but there were pool tables and a juke box with hits like Lady in Red (Chris de Burgh) and Ons gaan nou Pella toe (local artist).

The other time was a couple of months later and I visited on my own because my travelling companions were a bit wary. Will see if I can find some pics.

Reminds me of a night we decided to stop at Flamingo's in Langebaan for a quick drink before we headed home after a day at Strandloper.

The only time I almost got into a fight with somebody walking towards the entrance. My wife wisely decided to bring the evenings activities to a end and we went home.

Mark that as another place I never want to go to again, Standloper too....

No thanks.

Sal darem lekker kak wees as jy op jou boot sit en n dronkie pla jou by die venster.
