Condolences to family and friends.
As a fairly new member and rider (commuting for a year now) I am scared shitless by something like this.

Ek was so versigtig gister huis toe!

HI, I heard (and this could have suffered in the translation so take it as hearsay) that a witness driving behind Gerhard said that the bike developed a mechanical problem, gave a jerk then threw him off.

There was apparently no other vehicle involved.

Anyone heard of that happening to a dohc GSA 1200 or what could cause it?

I also heard the same here in the TFG office corridors - haven't confirmed yet.

RIP fellow rider.  Always sad to hear these things.  Strongs to the family and friends.  :(

It's really bad to keep hearing about these accidents, on Sunday one of the Barberton bikers was killed near Nelspruit!
But it's not just bikes that are dangerous, this morning several people were killed in yet another head-on collision on the Badplaas/Barberton pass... Be careful no matter what you do, even a car is not invincible!

RIP Gerhard.

This is such a tragedy; may God be with his friends and family, and give them the strength to get through this.

RIP Gerhard Mitton! :(

Ai, so onnodig.

Take care people and ride safe!

It can happen to any bike. It's usually caused by something breaking.
No disrespect but this is not the place for a "lewensgevaarlik" witch hunt. Every bike has the potential to kill you. Like cars, bicycles, sharks, dogs, toasters, chairs, electricity, smoking, fast food...

Condolences & strength to family and friends!

Fully agree................      I had my 990 sidestand switch fail recently whilst I was in the fast lane in heavy traffic, busy changing from 3rd to 4th. Bike just went dead.
