When I picked up the bike last week, soon as I hit 95-100kph, the front end started to wander - nothing too dramatic, just not a very secure feeling. Pumped the knobbies (Bridgestone Gritty's) to 1.4 bar - no change.
The rear was shot anyway, so put on a new set of Maxxis 6006's front and rear. The wobble now started at 105-110kph. Making the tyres harder made no difference. Took the bike to Jaco at KTM George - raised and lowered the forks - no real difference. He reckons I need a steering damper as the geometry of the front end is for enduro/racing. He fitted one to his KTM300 which had the same problem and said it made a huge difference.
Have now changed the gearing to 15/44 - bike is now stable up to 110kph - why this should make any difference, I don't understand.
Has anyone on the forum had a similar problem?
When replying, please state the tyres you have/had on the bike.
Thanks guys.
