The big problem facing trials in this country is that youngsters are not getting involved. They are all going mx / enduro / superbikes

It's such a nice sport but pity it gets no exposure on TV to make it appealing to the kids.

maybe if Trials SA starts holding indoor events or events in public places where it can be seen and watched, then more youngsters and people might get involved. At the moment the events are held out in the bush ( which has really lekker riding) but from a spectator point of view...worthless.

Venues & costs...
To build an indoor arena is going to cost a lot - more than you can recover from the riders entry fees. And the days of crowds flocking to see local motorsports (or any other sporting event for that matter) are long gone, so you won't  recover any money there either.
A lot of the trials venues have sections close to the car park, and have free entry, yet still minimal spectators.  :-\
Even when we held trials in public places and events, there was no more than a passing interest.
Indoor trials is also a different sport to outdoor trials - bigger obstacles, but less technical. And only 1 line. Not many of the current riders would ride in that.

TV coverage would help a lot, but once again that is expensive, and in the years that I organised it for the Nationals, we made a loss every time (you have to pay supersport for providing them with interesting coverage)... and the only sponsorships were from the riders own companies - once again no interest.

Trials (in Gauteng at least) currently provides a good service - affordable, well run competitions for those that are interested.

The oset class could solve that in a couple of years time...
And all the other facets of motorsport are also complaining about a lack of youngsters...

For TRAIL riding as opposed to TRIAL riding a 4 stroke is better than a 2 stroke.
Here you go!

 4 stroke and a seat!

I however don't find a 2 stroke a problem.
I rode to the top of the Matroosberg this weekend on my Gasgas 280 2 stroke this weekend.
Just stand and GO!

I carried an extra 2 liters of petrol in MSR bottles in my backpack.

Think it is time for new tyres as mine are looking a bit sorry for themselves.

What  are the recommended tyres?
So far I have found Golden tyres and Michelin.... any preferences?

Thanks
