George Booker from X African Safari Marathon Company,  will be staging an international Off Road Cross country event in South Africa starting on the 26th April and ending on the 2nd May 2014 with the first event in the Western Cape,.

This rally takes the form of a Cross country style rally and intends to bring back rally raiding passion to South African off road enthusiasts.

African Safari Marathon Company will hold the first ever seven day Cross country marathon for, bikes, Quads  in line with the FIM and  regulations governing off road rallying worldwide up the West Coast of South Africa.

Other than a large overseas contingent of riders we will have approximately in excess of 150 participants in various classes.

Alongside the Racing competitors we have an adventure ride for non participating riders who would like to enjoy the flavour of the entire event but have the pleasure of a great adventure ride over seven days.

These adventure riders will have all the privileges at the race and bivouac and can experience the rally, including all the safety and security of the actual event.

The Rally will start and end from the Waterfront in Cape Town using the Granger Bay Lookout as a head quarters for documentation and technical Scruteneering.

The Parc ferme will be around the big Ferris wheel at the entrance to the Waterfront complex and the start and finish podium will be adjacent to the Parc ferme.

Bikes will be parked at Parc Ferme after Scruteneering on the 26th April until 12.00 on the 27th April when they will be released to complete the prologue.

Rider interviews and interaction with the public will take place in this area with TV interviews being conducted in the atrium alongside the V&A shopping centre.

The prologue to determine start positions will be staged at the melkbos 4 x 4 venue over a 30km course on the 27th April 2014 followed on the 28th April 2014 with a 300 km section up to Vredendal.

The overnight bivouac for three days will be situated in Vredendal show grounds.
This facility can cater for over 600 competitors and support crew.

The two racing sections of 300 km near Vredendal will cross the wine farming region.
