So here’s my story about one of the best  t-shirt buys that I’ve ever made.
As normal when I’m stressed out about work, children, life and love I wake up in the middle of the night and browse Wild Dogs and ADV Rider.
On this fateful night, I chance upon a thread dedicated to the 30 year anniversary t-shirts that are been offered be the esteemed members of the forum.
“Bloody ‘ell that looks cool” I thinks to myself and post a request for one, only to get a reply, “well you best be at the bash to collect it”. mmmm
So, bit of juggling, planning and so on, and I manage to get Management to agree to fly down to Mosselbay to visit the in-laws and oh, by the way, seen that we there, we may as well pop into Koedoeskloof for the XT Get Together.

So there we ended up on a XT 600 and XT 500 sitting on the side of the road with an electrical fault on the Tenere.

Big thanks to Willem from Freedom Bikes in Mosselbay for taking time out on the public holiday, Friday, to drive out with Littleloon’s Aprillia and taking back the XT 600 to his work shop.

Right all sorted out, jump on the bikes and off we go to Riversdale. It’s the first time that I’ve ridden the 500 since buying her from a bloke in Oudtshoorn, so the first bit is really careful.
Got to Riversdale and stopped in at the Wimpy for a bite to eat before heading out on the R 323 over Garcia’s pass to Ladismith.

Both Bike are running beautifully, the XT 500 is just humming along at a lovely 120kmph,and the Pegaso is it’s normal easy going self, no stress at all.
Brilliant scenery along the road, one of the strangest things that I saw was really brightly coloured grass along the side of the road, bright almost turquoise colour, looked like it was spray painted, never seen that before? But unfortunately, didn’t stop for a picture.
So in any case, got into Ladismith and as I was looking for the co-ords on my phone, we saw a bunch of XT’s go past, so we just hooked onto the back of these guys, assuming that we would all be going to the same place.

Short ride out of town and we arrived at Koedoeskloof lodge.

Had a great evening meeting people and getting to know the various characters, some quiet, some noisy, some strange, but all cool people.

The view from the lodge was stunning, mountains in the background with snow covered peaks. This is what riding is all about.
Thanks to Veldblom for sorting out supper for Littleloon, who is a veggie, much appreciated.

Saturday morning, crisp, bright clear day.
Mandy and I hooked up with Groen Mamba and significant other and took a leisurely ride through Seweweeks Kloof via Rooinek Pass to Laingsburg for Coffee, Tea, Scones, Cheese cake and many more delights.

The riding and views through the passes were absolutely mind blowing, you guys live in the most scenic part of the country.
From Laingsburg we rode back to the accommodation via some or other road that I noticed going into Laingsburg, can’t remember the name though, sorry.
Saturday night our hosts had organised braai packs and once again a lovely evening was spent sitting around listening to tall tales and drinking beer, eating way to much and chilling out next to the camp fire.

Sunday morning came with the unenviable task of packing up and getting ready to head on home.
We decided to jump onto the R 327 to Van Wyksdorp and then down Cloete’s pass to Herbertsdale and back to Mosselbay.

So there is my story, a R120.00 t-shirt that was well worth the price.

p.s. pissed myself when I saw the sticker
