KTM 640 oil leak
« on: September 01, 2013, 12:33:17 pm »
Hey guys, a friend of mine has a KTM 640 Motard that has developed a oil leak at what looks like the base gasket.

Has anyone else had a similar issue?

Also have that problem. Mine just sweats a bit on the same place. When it starts leaking I will replace it.

Reason for the leak
I was told that these had a paper gasket and the later ones came with a aluminum gasket (Or some other material, can not remember now). The paper just leaks because of age. Replace it with the aluminum one.

Mine sweats a bit out of the TDC inspection window on the other side of the engine. According to the adventure guys, the trick is to replace the window & glue it in. Will do it next time I'm home.
