The thing with booking accommodation a month in advance is that it seems like it takes forever for your weekend away to actually arrive.....

Well the weekend finally arrived and 7 of us were loaded and ready to head off from PMB to the WildCoast for 3 days of what promised to be some really good riding. We had a good mix of bikes with 2 KTM 690s a KTM 640, BMW GS650, XT660, DR650 and a KLR650.

Getting Ready to leave.

The group met at Southgate Garage at 6.30am Friday morning and we knew we were gonna be in for a cold start to the trip, from PMB we headed out on the R56 through Richmond and onto Ixopo, in Ixopo we decided to stop for a coffee, the skies were clear but the temperature had not yet reached 5 degrees.

Arriving in Ixopo & waiting for the others to arrive.

Ben trying to warm his hands when we reached Ixopo.  ;D

Coffee was just what we needed.

From Ixopo we headed towards Harding and onto Gun Drift across the bridge which separates Natal & the Eastern Cape the sun was out and the temp was rising so it was time to remove the winter gloves.

From here on we looked forward to some great dirt road riding down to Bizana where we would re-fuel and get some breakfast.

This was going to be our last chance to re-fuel before we headed to the WildCoast for our overnight stop at Mtentu River Lodge. We had about 80km’s of dirt roads left till we got to the coast but along the way we would stop for a break at a few river crossings and then at the Mnyameni waterfall.

Ben was getting bored of crossing on the bridges.

Arriving at Mtentu we followed the 4X4 route in and arrived in the afternoon and headed into the bar for an ice cold beer, with some time to spare we unpacked all our stuff into our cabins that we had booked and took a walk down to the beach to have a look around, this really is a great part of our country.

Back to the pub for a few beers and we found this mountain bike fitted with a motor stored under the cabin…not a bad way to get around hey. :ricky:

Time to hit the showers, these are solar powered showers with a view like you cannot believe.

After a great supper we moved onto a few Captain Morgans and just relaxed looking forward to what the next 2 days would bring.

This was the view from our cabin. :thumleft:

We still had 2 days of riding to go !!!!!
