Hi Guys,
So Machiel and I are planning do the roof in 2014.
The plan is to go on the same bikes and ride the roof as a team, helping each other along the way. This way we can maximise on tools and spares. For the moment we are looking at the Honda CRF230. We are well aware that this bike won’t win the roof but we are looking to finish only (bronze). So what does the racers say?
Here is a list of pros and cons that I have thought of so far.
Machiel’s missus
ot:already has has a 230 so we can take that along to serve as a parts donor bike should we need anything funny. This also cuts down drastically on emergency parts cost.
Reliability: these things seems to go on forever.
Simple to fix
Aircooled
The suspension will need some beefing up
Low ground clearance will need to be looked at
Any advice would be appreciated, especially from those that’s been there
