Cost for chain+sprockets for DR650
« on: October 01, 2013, 01:13:25 pm »
Hi Knowledgeable Zooki fellows!

What can I expect to pay for o-ring chain and both front and rear sprockets (standard) for a DR650?

And in Gauteng, where is the best place to get them?

Just a quick recommendation, never fit cheap chain and sprockets on your bike. It WILL land up costing you more.

Rather pay the extra 50% now for a better quality products and have them last till 20000km+, then buy the cheaper and save R300 to have them need replacing in 10000km.

I've learnt this. Don't look at price, look at quality.

I hear you and understand the philosophy.

However, I hate chain maintenance, and just chuck gearbox oil on it every now and then. So in my case maybe cheaper is better? Don't know, would hate stuffing up expensive ones like that.

But maybe my argument is flawed. I suppose it has been discussed here on the forum somewhere in detail.

DID X-ring at R950 is about as cheap as I'd go.

AMXSA is a pleasure to deal with and JT Racing sprockets are the real deal.

Motrix sprockets last just fine but I would also stick to DID chain.

Ag man, that will bring you very far too, as long as you oil the chain very regularly.
Let's go into the mountains...there's likely to be peace and quiet

Not sure about geting it to you, but Chaintech are pretty good with finding non-standard sprockets and they sell quality kit.

Being a small item postage should be cheap.

<edit> - http://www.amxsa.com/shop/ recommended by Crossed-up earlier in this thread look good too.

Bensien - Wife came home today with a Samsung 3D LED TV and 3D Blue Ray player with built in wi-fi and 1TB hard drive. What else do I need?
Kaboef - A cheaper wife.
