:o That is indeed a Specimen!

Right next to it .. Aloe Dichotoma

Planted about 12 of these around our house 6 years ago and they have all become beautiful trees.  6 were smaller and they are also growing nicely.

SG I dont but I see you live in GP, they grow  wild on the Mountain in Northcliff you will be able to get the Fruit and seed there but remember they will ony grow in High Altitude Areas and it must be in rocky Soil. Good luck

Thanks Offshore

I live in Moreleta Park, right on a koppie, so my garden is very rocky and relatively high as well.  :thumleft:
You know you've landed with the wheels up when it takes full power to taxi to the ramp.

Can anyone assit with the names of the two types of trees in the picture please?  Was hiking in a kloof recently in the Klein-Swartberg mountains (Western Cape) and I've always wondered about these.  Especially the talls ones have the most amazing roots that simply hang on for dear life onto whatever rock they can find.

I am also fascinated by these trees that hang on for dear life from almost vertical cliffs. This one is in Anysberg Pass. Took the picture in December when going through there. Fantastic ride. think its a kind of Fig tree - not sure and I have not had time to look it up in the book.

Huilboerboon - Schotia brachypetala

Geplant 5 jaar terug en intussen gegroei teen 'n spoed. Altyd gedink dit is a redelike stadige groeier maar die een het my verkeerd bewys.

Thought so but the full "head" of leaves made me doubt. Dont often see Baobabs with so much leaves

Van die bome is dieselfde as in my vorige post, maar in 2011 toe Namibia geweldige baie reen gehad het.  Hulle raak maar goed groen met genoeg water.
