The same basic design 10 years on and still winning plus you can pick one up for under 30k

Looking good. Now the KTM's always win the shoot outs, in fact the CRF is so old it is often not even included in the group tests but to me the CRF has stood the test of time. Good solid bike right from the start also easy to work on and well thought out. Oil change is quick and even things like setting the valve clearance is a piece of cake, plenty of room to work. Testament to Japanese R&D.

How tricky is it to roadworthy a 450x if one picks up the roadworthy kit/lights etc.? Will the traffic department recognise the bike and allow it on the road?

If the traffic department will pick it up in the system as off-road, it can't be changed.
Depends how it got imported.
