Mail sent.

Willing to offer assistance: have 4x4, decent bike trailer and tools. Accomodation available for stranded Wilddogs.

Area mostly Cape Town Northern Suburbs, Boland and Swartland but within reason any recovery is an adventure. Might be willing to go further if needed  ;)

Happy to assist near Stellenbosch, Somerset, Strand and Overberg if 2SD doesn't like you  :pot:

After this weekend I again realised how valuable this information is. I intend to create GPS waypoints with the WD Roadside Assist Contacts so I always have the most appropriate one in case of emergency. Happy to share the Garmin GDB when I'm done.

I intend naming them all with prefix WDRSA [Forum Name], you can then add comments with cell number and assistance offered. When you search on GPS for this prefix it will list in order of distance from your location so you just pick the first one and dial the number. Alternatively you select the most approriate on based on circumstance. Attached image show how it will display in Mapsource, will add example later of search results on the device.

In reference to the past weekend, apart from the WD's mentioned in the relevant thread, Dawid from Hi-Q in Riversdal assisted by opening his shop Saterday evening (R200 callout fee) and lent me his tyre levers, glue and a large patch on condition that the levers are returned before he opens shop on Monday. I left with two out of the three they use to conduct business. Any WD's that may know Dawid, please convey our appreciation. Anybody travelling through Riversdal, please support Dawid - 0724607359

We could look at creating a SatNav file with WD RSA co-ordinates.
If folks are sensitive then they needn't give their home co-ordinates but perhaps the centre of the town or village nearest to them?
Just a thought.

Exactly - since you mentioned it yesterday I played a bit with mapsource and it works great. I also created iPhone contacts with the WDRSA suffix allowing me to search for them quickly. You only start thinking about this when you need it and then it's a bit late!

Howzit chaps,

Thanks for all the email's, sorry no personal replies... busy busy.

I am always doing my best to keep the database updated, sometimes things can slip through the cracks so if you have submitted details and I haven't added them just drop me another mail and I will add asap.

As for Email, I am no longer sending emails with the database attached so it will be up to each of you to download the latest one from time to time.

Remember to tell your mates about the database, it is very likely that if you need assistance the first person you call may not be able to help so lets get the database as comprehensive as possible to ensure you can get help if you need it.

As for GPS points etc, This is not really my area of expertise so if someone else wants to run with it then by all means.

Over and out :thumleft:
Regards,

Sheldyn

Hi Sheldyn

I am happy to email the updated database to all members on the list....

If you can just let me know (or just pop me the database) once you updated it I can get cracking to make a group email.

Regards

Thanks,  the problem I had was that initially I hadn't thought of emailing it so I have a little bit of a broken database of emails.  I thought of asking everyone to drop their mail address into this thread but I know people are sticky with that because of spam etc.  I am ofcourse also trying to minimize the admin on all this, its not my day job :P

anyway, you are welcome to try compile a list of mail addresses and I can send you the updated spreadsheet once a week...
Regards,

Sheldyn

I can assist in the States.

I stay in Bultfontein (between Bloem and Welkom) but will assist further if needs be. I have some tools, a bakkie and trailer. And I know people in the whole Free State, so if I wont be able to assist I might have a plan B.

My cell nr is 071 897 2900
