Advice needed on CRF250R Valves

I recently bought a 2004 CRF250R for my son. apparently the valves were done recently by Honda. Need some advice on following please :
Does the timingChain adjust itself? If not how and on what intervals to do it?
What needs to be done on the valves and on what intervals?
What to listen to in the engine to try and be pro-active

Yip , automatic tensioner , they can stick from time to time though .

Check valve clearances every 15 hours
What to listen to in the engine to try and be pro-active
Change oil and filter every 15 hours and use a good oil , these things rev to 13 500rpm , I would recommend Castrol Power 1 , if the valves pack up again then replace with Kibblewhite valves .

Does this mean that the ttr is for sale ? if so I know some one who would be interested .

Boet, The whole mission was for my 15 yearold to appreciate the value of where things come from, so we stripped it boude en blaaie and rebuilded, all except the engine. He's so chuffed with his bike, there's no way !

Pitty friend of mine is looking either for a ttr or crf ,but I prefer the ttr's and all of a sudden all the nice reasonable priced ones are gone .

Hi RR, Had you wrong there. Yes the TTR230 is for sale. I might say it's a very good bike. I would like R17'500 for it
It's a 2006 with very little Km's on

If anyone in this position as the original post, Be VERY carefull, although the bike was serviced and done by a dealer, apparently, mine dropped a valve with serious repercussions. I know it didn't do a lot of K's and fortunately the rev's wasn't that high, but serious shit!

Thanks for Conrad to have saved the head, by way of sending to a engineering shop, waiting for original valves, but stainless ones!

My son had only one comment : Because it's a Honda! I refuse to believe it! The lesson here is, IF you buy a product with a cronic pain, investigate that problem to the fullest extreme, otherwise, stay away!

Did it drop an SS valve? Did you fit matching springs with the SS valves?
