What to wear?
« on: November 04, 2013, 11:00:17 pm »
FINALLY! In about three weeks, I'll be riding in SA! Bikes, routes, accommodation fixed. (By Craig at http://www.motorbikehire.co.za.)

But what to wear? BMW Rally2 Suit or enduro style body armour with light shirt? Will it be chilly at nights? Area is South-West.

Our first run was with too heavy of gear.  I will be hot.  Went with a mesh jacket and cool pants on the second run and it was much better. Even when it rains it is just wet not cold.  OK you can find cold spots, so take layers and heated liner but they will  be in the pack 99% of the time.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but  rather a slide in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body totally worn out and screaming "Woo Hoo what a ride"

Travel with light clothes - it is summer time and will not be cold. You might find the odd chilly night at the coast but days should be nice and warm for riding.

Let us know where you are travelling.

Thanks. Had a look at the current weather, doesn't seem too hot?

It is hot, I ride with airflow jacket and pants and inner removed, do not be fooled by weather reports. Cold days and nights are the exception and bring a rain suit with.
