Friday afternoon GP (Mathew) and myself were short cutting through some gravel road on our way to the Border (slumdogs )gathering where GP discovered when we stopped for a smoke break he had lost his cell phone, luckily he found it at Middleton Manor where we stopped earlier for a water break. He also lost his sunglasses within the first 5 minutes of the trip, just as well he was not at a gay bash or he might have lost his virginity as well. >:D :lol8:

The gathering was extremely successful and the venue truly an Eastern Cape gem.
Meeting friends like Laban was great and new friends, Chilli, Donkey Kong and his partners in crime. The Kirkwood gang, Keith Bieber, Justin's older brother who knew more about me than I did (scary) :patch:
Meeting  (WD)Ant was truly cool as he is the only angler that I know that can't hook a bass with three treble sharp hooks on a lure. :lol8:

The angling was great and the out rides scenic.
Thanks to the Border dogs for a great social gathering. :thumleft:
Here are a couple of photos.

1= green and dry
2=oops, caught in my slipstream ::)
3=waiting for GP to find his phone :sleepy2:

Spot maar, ek watch julle  :ricky:

Our Weekend started out with: Ant; Jupiter; Lyn; Serry; TigersM8 & I leaving from the Sasol in Disa Avenue PE, tar all the way to breakfast at Baddaford Farm Stall. Awesome weather to ride in and good riding mates. Naturally any ride with Jup includes at least 2 coffee stops (each way) and Sat was no different  :imaposer: in G'Town we pulled into a coffee shoppe and started to wake up with a caffiene hit.
I was then told I was leading too slowly, imagine that a KTM being told to ride faster and that nogal by a KLR and XTZ  :o sooo, the ride got faster - we managed to hit the speed limit  :lol8:

Thanks to Mrs Dutchman 81 (Rechelle) for organising a lekker breakfast after which we could all gather and ride off together, with Visarend leading the way on his YZ250F (at least that is how he treats the mothership  ;D)
As described earlier by others this area is a piece of heaven and VERY beautiful, thanks Vissie and JMOL for being our trail guides in your backyard, will definitely be back shortly.

Once again it was good to see the known faces and to meet a few more, even met 2 friends from school, one I saw 28yrs ago, good to see you Gert, Andrew I met up with at the EC Bash earlier in the year  :thumleft: Was a lekker kuier the Country Club will never be the same again

A few pics:
1 Knucklehead
2 Desireé (TigersM8)
3 Serry and Knucklehead
4 View Down the Valley in the Game Park
5 I like that BMW R65 of Petr's, this has the heart of an adventurer and the bike matters not, as long as it is simple and reliable - good on you bud (Rider and Steed went all over)  :thumleft:
6 Mev Dutchman 81 and Mev Visarend (Skerpskitter met n kamera)
7 Petr; Garvin & Dave
8 a View up the road Rd leading to the Katberg Pass
9 Warning - Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than they Are - Jupiter and Ant
10 Dave checking out the Adv - no mate the Miggie is on the inside of that Screen  ;)

A few more Pics; going up Katberg Pass and then to the Camp site:

1 Ant dissappearing up the pass
2 A look back down the valley, on the left are 3 riders at the gatehouse where we stopped. Serry; Garvin & Dave
3 Ant; JMOL and Jup
4 TigersM8

I was last in the group up the Pass, or so I thought, Serry;Garvin & Dave followed on long after we left and shortly got to the top of the Pass and promptly turned the wrong way  ??? , I didn't wait at the turn because they were still wandering around at the gatehouse when I looked from the top so thought they were staying there, so I rode on, no sweat after about 10min I went to fetch them and found them at the tower and herded them back.

5 A herd of Wild Horses which live in the mountains, which I saw on the way back from fetching the 3 stooges, he he he  :ricky:
6 Entrance to our home for the night
7 Campsite
8 Daskop; N0b0dy; TigersM8 and Firecoast
9 Rechelle;EC Guy (Alfreds) Lady; EC Guy and Izelle (Difflocks wife) (please forgive any spelling errors)
10 Dutchman81; Difflock and I cannot remember the other 2 names - sorry

1-3 The Lake that is teeming with fish, even if 214 can't find them, at least his casting technique is impressive  :imaposer:
4 Ant found the one 214 was looking for - seeing as we had enogh food for the night Ant let it go again ( Thanks Drazzil and Blackie for lending us your fishing tackle, will definitely be back to come taste these Bass again.

5 The food was very lekker and lots of it, these farmers know how to treat guests, the drinks were cheap and the company - the best
6 Jup doing a reflection "shot"
7 Firecoast and Throttle Jockey

After much parting by some to 5am, we arose to a calm, serene, Quiet campsite with guy's brewing their coffee on camp stoves and some in the kitchen with Ricoffy  :P (me Included) The sense of cameraderie at these events always impresses me, we all come from different background and social standing, from scholars to doctors, mechanics to lawyers - and none of that matters (not that it ever should) the wonders of the motorcycle is not the size, brand or power but the levelling capacity it has on it's owners ( I don't know if I am expressing myself properly, I am not a wordsmith)

JMOL, you have started a good thing in a great venue, thank you for a great weekend at the end of it Des and I were pleasantly tired and inspired by the people we met and had the priviledge to call friends.
Ant, Gerard, Lyn & Serry, thank you for making the ride and experience so much richer for your friendship and company  :3some:

The Ride Home in Pictures:

1 The big tree, which made us look like Hobbits and a GSA like a PeeWee 50cc - (Great place for a stealth camp >:D)
2 Jup "photo bombing", we did get one without the hazy red gremlin in the back ground - eventually  :lol8:
3 A long road in the EC in 34deg heat, and Jup took us to the only shade in a 3000km radius, and Lyn goes and stands in the sun  :imaposer:
4 Entrance to eZulu game farm
5 Some Black Wildebeest
6 Shady Tree on my mates farm next to eZulu, in front of the Farmhouse
7 Weary Dogs on the Farmhouse stoep
8 Lyn enjoying the cooling waters of the plunge pool.

I managed to lead the guy's through a "grade10" off road track instead of the game trail out to the main road but found the road after turning around in a Thorn tree grove  8)
As we joined the Tar road home Serry got a puncture, but managed to repair it using a can of Tyre jack, then we limped home with him, Jup and I sent him ahead while we stopped at Nannaga to get Supper and Juice, we were all pretty dehydrated, Serry got home safely and as he arrived his tyre deflated and could not be resurrected - at least he was at home.

To all the good folk at the gathering, THANK YOU!!!

PS: There are 2 Guy's on this forum whom I know to be better than a GPS and they are Jupiter and ChrisL, I cannot remember my street name (my waife sends me out with a name tag) these guys can tell you the name of a "driffie" on the dark side of the moon, it is a pleasure to ride with these guy's and never worry about being lost, and if they are lost they know where that is TOO, they even know the farmers name at Lost  :lol8:

Daskop, jy sal die foto geniet. Takuza die vorige aand tot die oggend ure en nou dit op pad huis toe  :imaposer: wonder of dit rêrig die wheel bearing was of is hy nou te k*K? Kyk na sy gesig en maak jul eie afleiding

Kak bike. I told him he should just sell it to me......
It's a friggin' motorcycle, it's not supposed to be comfortable, quiet or safe. The windnoise is supposed to hurt your ears, the seat should be hard and riding it should make you scared every now and then. Suck it up. -- Scary Gary Mc
